And now, back to the ride. Utah Leg info.

I have some replys coming in about overnighting. The general concensus is appearing to be - tadaaaaa...... intimacy
Seems everyone on the Utah leg is the lonely sort and wishes to sleep together, er stay together, er get one room.  ;)
Night one in GJ shouldn't be a problem with 4 of us plus Paul says he may have some contacts that we could stay with but I'd hate to overwhelm good people with this bunch  ;D I'll check with Motel 6 in Grand Junction for night 1.

Night 2 is different. 5 guys possibly vs 4 plus we don't know for sure where we'll stay and that may require 2 rooms as most motels will not allow more than 4 adults per room. Haven't heard back from GJ Steve yet. I'm hoping to meet up with Greg/Ofreen for the handoff about lunch time at Spanish Fork, UT, take a break, grab a burger and beer and ride. That means we have about 233 miles to ride that morning so we'll need at least 4 hours for the first half. Since the afternoon is basically an unknown at this point I've been thinking Vernal, UT. That's another 160 miles which gives us 400 for the day and that should be plenty unless there's plenty of time and sunshine and you guys want to press on. Vernal has plenty of motels but they are a little more expensive than the Motel 6 in GJ. We can at least get the names of the least expensive ones for when we get there or make a reservation beforehand once we know for sure what we need.

This will be good  ;D Now I just have to determine what cold weather gear to wear  ;)

I was on 7 and  8.   Want to go again this year.    What was u on freaky?

The blue '77 750F, drag bars and the R1 tail light, didn't I ride with you?
How did it run?

It ran great 98% of the way, we came down through Boulder and then I found out the hard way my new electronic points were defective and had heat issues. I didn't come to that conclusion until about a month later though, spent about an hour screwing with it on the side of a road that day. I since drilled some air holes in the cover and got a replacement set and then it was all good. On a completely different note, does anyone know a GOOD tig welder in Denver looking for some side work?

I might have a guy. Let me check how his work load looks and I'll get back to you.

Team Handoff of Godzilla at Motorcycle Classics Confirmed
« Reply #153 on: April 26, 2011, 05:49:16 PM »
FYI - I heard back from Richard Backus, the editor of Motorcycle Classics magazine today. We will be planning our meeting and lunch soon. It's a GO!! If you want to have your mug shot included you'd better ride along with us  ;) CB650 and I will be departing from the front range Sun 5/8 with an overnight in Oakley, KS. We'll meet up with the KS SOHC4 guys there and proceed east the following morning with arrival later that day. CB650 will peel off somewhere along the route and return home. The meeting is tentatively planned for Tues 5/10 during which we will then hand over Godzilla to Team Central. Afterwards I will be very reluctantly heading westward again with 1 last overnight stop somewhere.   :'(

I wish I could offer something more than 2 sofas or I would invite you to stay sunday night in GJ at my place. (the offer is there if all you require is a sofa, blanket and bathroom) I'm hoping my ass can take riding all the way to Vernal with you guys. I don't mind sharing a room but after a days long ride I gotta have the whole bed. If the motel only allows double occupancy I'd have no problem ponying up to have a room to myself either. I had my helmet stolen while I washed my cycle the other day so I really hope the replacement I ordered gets here in time! Looking forward to meeting everyone Sunday night/Monday morning.

You boys ready! Looks like a cold and crappy one.

"Sunday: Variably cloudy with snow showers. Cold. High 32F. Winds E at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of snow 40%. Snow accumulations less than one inch."

That's what The Weather Channel has to say about Silverthorne on Sunday. Sounds fun!!!!

I've been watching the weather reports on our legs as well as keeping an eye on what Team West in CA and NV are doing and kinda laying low just observing. Of course we are dependent on the guys from the west. I haven't heard from the CA guys or Ofreen lately today. Talked to both this AM. Ofreen will get in touch tonight sometime. The CA boys were headed out and Ofreen was waiting out the weather in Idaho and Oregon earlier. Ofreen hit the road earlier afternoon rather than waiting for tomorrow. He had snow and cold to deal with too. Said he'd prefer NOT to have 2 real long days so he headed out to split it up into 3 days and make use of available sunshine. He will be riding by himself pretty much the entire way and expects to stay on schedule.

Looks like we'll have a tough ride Sunday but Sunday may actually be a little better than Sat. At least it's not a full day! With the noon start hopefully we'll have advantage of warm sunshine too for the afternoon. The thing I like most about your report is the 1" part! So, you're still up for this, huh?! I was just about to send you a message when I saw your post. I'm hoping to be at Terry's around 10am. Getting my cold gear together and hopefully will be able to start peeling off some within the first 2 hours or so.

Stay tuned  ;D

I haven't communicated with Paul to see his status. GJ Steve will be nice and warm and toasty out there waiting for us. Could take a little longer, just want to get there before cold and dark. Having a safe ride is THE thing.

I'll check into things in a little. The wife is packing and I'm being very distracted. My fingers are crossed.

Plan B is sold at your local pharmacy counter to anyone over the age of 17 as an emergency contraceptive. Oh wait, plan B with a small letter p. Wrong plan B. Yet to be determined. All ideas are accepted. I REALYY hate to say this but it's a beautiful day in the Springs! For now  :o

Jerry I was thinking you will get the ribbon for largest change in elevation during your ride, going from 10,600 ft on Vail Pass to the plains of Kansas. I think the highest spot in Kansas is just over 4,000 ft

I love our forecasters. Depending on who you listen to, we could get nothing at all up to 4". Everything for sunny to rainy to snow. I say check those cameras and that's going to be the judge.

EDIT: And I look outside and it's F$#^#@% snowing! I love Colorado!
