I will be able to give a more definite answer on my ability to ride once we have date that is somewhat set in stone. Also, the length of riding will depend on what bike I am riding. If my 750 is done I will be able to go longer. If not, I am not sure how far I want to ride on my 550.

I attempted to do a Google map of some proposed routes today but I mis-Googled and lost it

I'll start at Wendover, NV for the northern route, across US40 to Estes Park, down to Idaho Springs and Mt Evans, down to CoSpr and Pikes Peak then east to US40 in E CO again, into KS and up to US24 and into KC. I'll then do a southern route from the same start but head SE at SLC and go through Moab, Monument Valley and 4 Corners and pick up some S Colorado riding. I'll also do 2 similar routes coming from US50 "The Loneleist Road in America" in NV then go north and south.

I am having issues, I have an internship going right now and we are getting involved in a project that I will not be able to finish before my internship is over. On the up side, they might hire me when my internship is over to stay on and complete the project and i'd love to have a paying job. The down side is the project might not be done before we ride this thing and I would really not be able to take the time off from a new job. I am keeping my fingers crossed and will keep everyone posted.

I've been working on Google maps. What a pain to learn! I had 2 entries into Utah and one just got eliminated. Ofreen is planning on riding US50 across NV. It is dubbed "the Loneliest Road in America". IMO one of the great rides in America.

I have 2 routes in mind and I have ridden most of this except the KS portions.

North:

US50 @ NV/UT ; Provo ; Heber ; US40 east to Vernal, Steamboat, Granby ; US34 east through Rocky Mountain Park to Estes Park ; Peak to Peak Hwy 7 & 72 to Idaho Springs ; Mt Evans ; 74, 285, 67 to Woodland Park ; Pikes Peak ; Colorado Springs (stop over/party) ; 94 east to US40 ; US40 to Oakley, KS ; US83 north to US24 ; US24 to KC

South:

US50 @ NV/UT ; Salina, UT ; UT24 south through Capitol Reef ; UT95 south ; 261 south ; 163 N/E ; 262 to 4 Corners ; Then either US 50 or US160 east to Colorado Springs then follow the eastward routing of the northern route.
** US50 - 4 Corners ; Telluride ; Montrose ; Gunnison ; Salida ; Buena Vista ; Woodland Park ; Pikes Peak
** US160 - 4 Corners ; Durango ; Pagosa Springs ; Wolf Creek Pass ; Alamosa ; Walsenberg ; Pueblo ; Colorado Springs

Just looking over the map...since there don't seem to be a lot of folks in MT or WY....if the route from UT to CO could jump up and include the bottom part of WY, I'd think about runnin up to the top of MT, maybe with Ofreen, and get IT from the AB/SK guys..

Well, having looked over the map again, and never having been to Yellowstone....and since I'll probably take a week off from work with a weekend at each end, that gives me 9 days to cover 6 days worth of riding..I could probably squeeze Yellowstone in..and even tho some of it would be on interstates, I haven't been on those ones for a long time..and probably the better road for gettin IT over the ton...

No need to get on the freeways. There are plenty of alternatives, especially if you want to go over a hunnerd. The secondary roads away from towns are lightly patrolled compared to the interstates.

I'll do my best to get in on some of the Colorado portion but won't be able to say how much until the date draws nearer. It's a tad crazy that we have more riders in Colorado than in the other three states combined.

I've been out of the loop a few months, but it's cool to see all of the regional rides getting some riders and route ideas. Jerry, I think it's a great idea to get the Colorado riders together to plan a route. Hopefully, that can happen. RoadRunner Magazine recently had an article on Hwy 50 across Kansas. As a Colorado kid who attended University of Kansas in Lawrence, Hwy 50 looks more interesting than all the treks across I-70 I did in those years! Plus, "IT" can get shot in Dodge City!

Yeah, we're going to have to have a strategic planning get together, just not sure when. The whole Rally and a burst pipe in my basement plus a little work at the wrong times have sure kept me busy. Still gotta get my bike together too.

We have Utah, Colorado and Kansas to deal with. Nevada is covered. Eastern Kansas should be covered as well. I have 2 potential routes. (1) US50 at NV/UT north to US40, across northern CO to Estes, down to Mt Evans and Pikes Peak then to US40 east of Limon into KS then north to US24 and into KC or (2) US50 at NV/UT on a southerly route through Arches/Moab to 4 Corners and across US50 or US24 into the Springs & Pikes Peak then pick up the same Kansas route. HWY 50 across KS is another possibility in lieu of US24. It all depends on what riders we have and what they can ride.

Ideally we need to pick up some more riders for Utah and Kansas, I need to hear from our riders and find out what you guys can ride then make some routing plans. Final time tables will be last due to the nature of the beast. Keep in mind we are dependent on Team CA as far as timing goes.

OK GUYS - CAN YOU GIVE ME SOME KIND OF IDEA OF WHAT YOU CAN RIDE KEEPING IN MIND MY SUGGESTED ROUTING ABOVE?? TIME AND DISTANCE WOULD BE GREAT.

My vote is for the US 40 route ad down over Mt. Evans & Pikes Peak. As far as Kansas, I haven't been to Dodge City since I was a wee youngster so I'd vote the HWY 50 route there. I'd probably jump off not to far after Dodge City because I've got family in LaCrosse and a good night's sleep would be nice before heading back to big D. I'm not worried about work, the people I work for are pretty cool and I'm sure a couple of days or so off wouldn't be any big deal. My big hurdle is the bike, if I could get two days work in on it soon I'd feel much better, too cold, too much snow, and too much school work right now.

Pinhead signing in. I'll ride pretty much anywhere in KS. I'm in KC right now. I agree that we should stay away from I-70... I've taken it from KC to Russell so many times I could map it in my sleep.

Should be on my CB650ST if nothing drastic happens between now and then.

I think our route may be taking initial shape.

Relay from Team CA in Reno by Ofreen then head east on US50
Pick up "IT" in Baker, NV near Great Basin and the NV/UT border from Ofreen.
Head NE to Park City area and pick up US40.
Take US40 through northern CO, through Rocky Mountain Park on Trail Ridge Road in Estes Park.
Take the Peak to Peak Hwy to Idaho Springs and ride Mount Evans.
From Mount Evans proceed through Deckers to Woodland Park.
From Woodland Park ride Pikes Peak and into Colorado Springs.
From Colorado Springs take Hwy94 east and pick up US40.
Take US40 to Oakley, KS and meet up with Eydugstr and Pinhead.
Take US83 north then US24 east.
In Topeka meet at the headquarters of Motorcycle Classics Magazine.
Head to KC and relay "IT" to Team Central.

I would like for you guys to take a look at this routing and provide feedback. I'm hoping this will be OK. Tell me what you may be able to ride. Dates can not be set yet but mid-May is a likelihood. We are dependent on a number of things, the first of which would be Team California's scheduling.

We have a bunch of Denver area riders and I need to find someone that can help ride Utah. Volunteers?? We can't rely on UPS to get "IT" to us!

Looks good to me Jerry. It really depends how everything lays out with the schedule but I can probably get 3 days off of work and I'd want to ride as much as I can in that time

As Godzilla gets closer I can give you a more accurate idea.
