My calendar is, well............. You're right. We want to leave on Sun 5/1 to pick up Godzilla on Mon 5/2. Hoping to head into KS on Sun 5/8 or Mon 5/9. We gotta figure out some way for you to take Godzilla for a ride! I was thinking that Don R is planning on riding into Topeka before heading back too. We should check in with him and see what kind of time table he has to work with before writing you (kck3) off totally.

Jerry - Spoke with the boss and was able to get the week of the 9th off.  Should be clear to do some riding into MO as well.

I would love to ride along for at least the Grand Junction / Spanish Fork / Vernal? section. The next day ride with you as far as Dinosaur and head south. If I can get enough time off I may go on with you as far as Craig and then head back. I'll stay tuned to this forum to stay on top of changes and confirm my being able to go. Looking forward to turning in a time off request form at work!

GJ Steve,

I added you to the ride plan. It will be great to have you in the crew! We are hoping to arrive in GJ Sun 5/1 after leaving Denver Sun noonish. Stay over Sun pm at a Motel 6 that CB650 aka Terry uses when visiting his son. We'd head out for Spanish Fork Mon AM. Terry has mentioned staying over in GJ on the return but we haven't discussed that yet. My idea is to ride out on I-70 but ride back on US40 as far as possible, perhaps heading south at Kremmling since Trail Ridge Road won't be open yet. Not quite sure how we could do the return night in GJ and avoid I-70?? Ideas?? We would definitely be staying out another night somewhere.

To all the other Denver area riders that haven't commented or commited,

My idea is to return from Utah with Godzilla to the Denver area and turn you guys loose to plan some riding from Wednesday until the following Sunday. The only other definite plan is to ride Pikes Peak Sunday AM then head off to the Great Plains and Kansas that afternoon. You guys should begin some planning. I had initially suggested a stay over/party at my place in Colorado Springs but that will probably not happen due to my home situation. Refer to my line below for an explanation.

Hey Jerry!

Looks like you got some pretty firm dates!  There appears to be a little rework going on in Texas.  Should Texas slide by a day, would you use the Denver stayover to buffer that (assuming Team Cali can absorb the change)?  Is your handoff with Team Central in Topeka on 5/9 pretty firm?  Is Team Central on board with the handoff?

Just trying to move the Time Ball down the road!

Not if you have the right attitudes. It’s having the right attitudes that’s hard.

I think the dates are good at this point. Our Utah leg can not afford an extra day without costing at least another week which will throw off Kansas too due to vacation scheduling.

Don't think it will work out but for general info, at the end of may at miller motor sport park in Utah is a three day race and rock concert. While my cb won't be ready anytime soon, I want to go to see the BMW team race the tires off the competition. Having fun reading about the world tour though great job guys.

I might have to be put on for the Denver to Utah leg. I never even thought about finals for school but I think they might be the week after the Denver to Utah leg.

Keep in touch and let me know what is possible for you.

What about the other Denver area guys? Can you do Utah or Kansas? If not we need to organize something for you guys to ride between those legs. That would be Th-Fr-Sa-Sun AM 5/5 to 5/8 with Pikes Peak planned for Sun AM.

I'm going to have to do the Denver to Utah leg, checked on finals and I have one on Friday the 6th, Monday the 9th, and projects due on the 9th and the 13th. My wife is going to find out about getting the Tuesday and Wednesday off so I can go, now all I need is to get my bike done. ;D ;D ;D

I shold smack myself for speaking too quick! My wife found out today that she will not be able to get May 3rd and 4th off, I'm out of the Utah trip now officially. The following week riding into Kansas is my last week of school and I can't miss that and with her not being able to get off work I've got to be here to take care of the kids. I'm still on for riding around Colorado the weekend in between but crap I wanted to get out of town bad.

I'm the last person to do any organizing. Really...but I am interested in what's going on during Godzilla's time here in Colorado. Looking forward to join up whenever I can to give him the tour.

Tentative/Initial Plan Ride dates for Team Central Rockies. Subject/likely to change with some fine tuning.

5/1 Sun - depart Denver ~ noon for Grand Junction ~250 miles
5/2 Mon - Handoff in Spanish Fork, UT ~ 233 miles around noon then head east on US40 with an overnight stop along the way. Vernal, UT/G.J. perhaps? ~160 miles (Ofreen hands off to Rxman, CB650 aka Terry, Apex_Seeking aka Craig, 78 k550 aka Paul- who else wants to ride? GJ Steve, that's who!  :D )
5/3 Tues pm/Wed am - Arrive greater Denver area ~320 miles
5/4 Wed to 5/7 Sun - Godzilla cruises the Rockies and scans the eastern horizon from atop Pikes Peak
5/7 Sun Depart Colorado Front Range and head into Kansas meeting up with Eydugstr, kck3, and ___ (jamesb?)in Oakley, KS ~223 miles
5/7 Sun Overnight in Oakley??
5/8 Mon Oakley to Topeka ~326 miles and the meeting with Motorcycle Classics magazine Tues 5/9 (Rx, CB650, Eydudstr, kck3, jamesb, donr, Pinhead, anyone else??)
5/9 Tue Godzilla heads east with Team Central and Central Rockies toward Missouri

OK guys, this is the first true attempt at a schedule. Time for your input. What I am attempting to accomplish is get the handoff legs in place since they are both long haul rides and will be the more difficult sections to staff. Please take a look at your calendars. See how close this will work for you and provide input. I need names to plug into dates and sections. We'll go from there.

The initial handoff is perhaps the tightest time wise with CB650 aka Terry and myself doing the riding across the vast unmanned expanses of Utah. We will depart Denver Sun 5/1 at noon with an overnight in Grand Junction (~250 miles) and must be back to greater Denver no later than early Wed AM 5/4 and preferrably Tue 5/3.

Now, for all you Denver area guys that may not be able to do some serious road miles there is time between the Utah and the Kansas rides. This is YOUR time and I hope all can participate. I hope there is plenty of time for you guys. Please work together and plan some serious seat time to visit the places you'd like to go. Please let me know. If we can head toward Kansas on Sun afternoon 5/7 that would give the Coloriders 3 to 4 days to ride to Topeka and back. Should we need to wait until the following week that would cut short the Coloriders Kansas time by 1 day and prevent the Coloriders from meeting up in Topeka with Motorcycle Classics. The Kansas riders would still be able to do that.

For the Kansas riders, we have a good idea of what you guys wish to do but what about the dates? Don R, what can you do to meet up in Topeka for the handoff?

Jerry

Just chiming in, But, It seems agreed that "Evans" & "Pikes Peak  are agreed on. It seems to me that to be that close to "Garden of the Gods" & not incude would be sorta like sacrilidge. as would the omission of "Zion" Sorry I caught this thread so late, as both my SOHC's are still in "hibernation" I'll keep an eye on route/dates,  & see if I can "tag along" for at least a "piece of the ride" if I may.   Gane from Boulder,

"If I may" - Why yes, you're now EXPECTED to tag along  :) Evans will be iffy as far as snow removal, just like Trail Ridge Road won't be open until later in May. If not for that we'd be coming through the park on US40. Garden of the Gods is a must. Godzilla can handle Balanced Rock by himself. Pikes Peak should be open as they strive to keep it open as much as possible year round. If not I'm sure Godzilla could take the Cog up to the top for one of their famous high altitude donuts. I'll list you as part of the "local" ride and if you find out you can do more just let me know. Stay in touch with the threads for more updates. Great to have you along!

Apex,

By the time I wake up it will be 12 days but who's counting  8) Looks like Terry (CB650) & I plan on meeting at his place on Sun 5/1 before noon and hitting the road no later than noon. We'll see you there before noon. Sound OK to you? Do you know of anyone else that is wanting to ride with us? Paul may want to ride but I'm not sure if he can get off work. Click on CB650's info for a map to his place. Close to the Yahama dealer on I-25 just north of I-70. My cell is 719-xxx-3080. Please get me your info. This will be great. Sun night in Grand Junction at a Motel 6 Terry uses then Mon night maybe in Vernal, UT or Craig/Steamboat. Just depends on how much fun we're having  ;D Cheap motels and cold beers on the road!  :D

I just checked your map out! You guys are neighbors  :)
