I'm going to be riding as far north as time (work) permits from San Diego, probably only as far as San Lois Obispo where my sister is at school.  I'm basically dreading passing through the gauntlet of HelL.A.  I lived there for 5 years and never felt safe on the freeways even in my cage.  Anyone have any bright ideas to avoid the 405N?  I would say stick to the 1, but that would be hooouuuurs of stoplights through OC and LA.
If you head inland and go up through the High Desert, you can get to SLO with hardly any freeway time at all. AZ could hand off to you at Joshua Tree?

Hmm, that's an interesting idea, but I would still have to contend with some Westbound freeways to get to Santa Monica to head north on the coast.  I guess that's doable.  CLICKY THE GOOGLE MAP LINK  I could hook up with the AZ riders and "IT" in Riverside.

I have two buddies that are in the market for SOHC4s, but haven't pulled the trigger yet.  Hopefully by then they'll have some wheels.  I would really prefer not to do any distance riding solo.  C'mon guys, let's find some more SoCal Riders!!

If Scottly wants to push on to Riverside that'd be great but I think for now we should assume someone will be meeting him in Joshua Tree. Running straight from Riverside out to J.T. and back will add 3 or 4 hours to your trip. That's gonna be a pretty serious day to try to make it up to SLO. Anyone want to volunteer to get it closer to the coast? Or maybe you guys could loop out through Borrego  Springs and up to J.T. and then hand off to an as yet undetermined rider for the trek north?
So much to do, so little time.

Sorry, but no way I will ride all the way to Riverside! :o
I lived in Apple Valley, CA, near Victorville for 11 years before I moved here, and I grew up a couple of miles from Orcutt, CA. I could leave my place in Apple Valley, and be at my mom's house in about 4 1/2 hours, (in a car) with the only Interstate time being I-5 from hwy 138 to 166, over the grape-vine. From here to Apple Valley took about 6 1/2 hours, whether I took I-40 or the route through Parker and Joshua Tree.
I'm more concerned about getting it across the desert than getting it across AZ right now. Kayjohn, any chance for your group to ride with me south from Kingman towards Parker?

Hey Fatmatt, I had chimed in for Kingman to Vegas and on towards Riverside.  If it's on a weekend, I could go as far as Corona.  Check the first post and the maps.

Yea, I was going thru some hard times, thought I would have to sell the CB650.  Things are a little better now.  I'm still confused regarding AZ to NV to CA.  Any way you can summerize in a simple way? Riders name, start/end cities (with out route details which cloud the mind).  Has Myles given any more input?

I am hoping my portion falls on a weekend since I already have my vacation days scheduled and can't move too many of them and I don't want to get to far from Vegas.

To simplify as best as I can; If someone can get it up to me by noon, 4-26, I can be in Kingman that afternoon. If you could meet up there, we could leave there the next morning, head south along the CO river, then head west to Joshua Tree.
Looks like it will be just you and me for that stretch...

As of now it's looking like Climbingaz will pick it up at Duncan and ride it to the Phoenix area on 4/24.

Possible timeline
-------------------
4/24 - Climbingaz - Duncan to Phoenix
4/26 - Scottly - Phoenix to Kingman (Kayjohn and company?)
4/27 - Scottly and Ksslr - Kingman to J.T.(Riverside?) (Kayjohn and company?)
4/28 - Onewheeldrive, Odiewan, mycb750k6, joe29 - Encinatas to SLO with hand-off in J.T/Riverside
4/29 - Fatmatt - SLO to San Francisco Bay Area(Grumpy, Domer, Geminimotors, Mr.Breeze, Scondon, Stueve jumping in at Santa Cruz or Woodside or somewhere)
4/30 - Fatmatt, Grumpy, Domer, Geminimotors, Mr.Breeze, Scondon, Stueve - San Francisco to Nevada
5/1 - Ofreen - Fernly, NV to Baker, NV
5/2 - Jerry - Baker, NV to points east

That Encinatas to SLO leg is a pretty good chunk of riding for one day, especially considering the area. If you guys wanna break that off in one day, more power to ya.
So much to do, so little time.

That sounds good so far.  I'll have to see about moving a couple of vacation days for the 27th and 28th then.....and get working on the bike!

Hey Matt, I messed up: I meant to say if someone could it get up to me in the Prescott area on 4-25, then I would take it to Kingman the same day. Kayjohn and crew could meet me in Seligman, and we would ride rt 66 into Kingman. Then kslrr and I could head across the Mojave on 4-26.

Hey all southern AZ guys: I was really hoping the ride would come up from Duncan, through Globe, Payson, Camp Verde, Cottonwood, and Jerome before heading towards rt 66 and Kingman. I would like some of you guys in PHX to consider a day trip to Jerome on 4-25. I think this route may take in some of the best riding in AZ. If there is any interest, we can schedule in one more day for AZ.

We're still good for Seligman to Kingman. I know at least 4 of us can ride 4/25 4/26
A layover in Kingman is good, having the shop ready if need be.

Kingman to Parker is possible for some of us to.

Hey,
How is the ride going to get from Riverside to Encinitas? But more importantly, how is "IT" going to get from Encinitas to SLO? My biggest question is from Orange county-ish through LA. PCH is stop and go from south of Encinitas to Camp Pendleton and then picks up again in San Clemente.

Odie,

I don't think IT is going to come down to Encinitas, but we are going to meet in Riverside for the handoff.  Unfortunately, much of our southern leg is freeway driving.  There's really no way to avoid it unless we cruise frontage roads most of the way.

Ok, good. Coming from Riverside to Encinitas wouldn't be too bad, but going north would suck IMO.

Has someone figured out how we get from Riverside to the coast?

Getting to Riverside would probably just entail high-tailing it up the 15/215.

To avoid dealing with the LA traffic, we could continue up the 215 to the 15, and then take 138 to Palmdale, pick up the 14 to Santa Clarita. Then get up to the 126 to Ventura on the coast. It wouldn't be very fast but it's a lot nicer than slogging along on the 210.

Any opinions on that idea?

Oh, BTW. I know the route I suggested from Riverside to then end of the 14 in Santa Clarita and from Ventura on. The rest I came up with using Google Maps. The 126 could suck a$$, just don't know.

If my shoulder is healed enough and my bike's street legal by then, I will ride with ClimbingAZ from Duncan to Phoenix. I broke my shoulder in November and its healing slowly. Bike's coming together slowly. I have about a 180 mile ride from Sierra Vista to Duncan according to Google Maps.
So, given the Phoenix run is about 200 miles, I'll plan on getting to Duncan or Stafford the night before.
I didn't realize earlier that the 24th is Easter.

Im planning on joining from San Diego. I will also have limited time, so i may trailer up to Riverside and just leave my truck and the trailer there. Riding a 350f from SD to riverside alone up the 15 and THEN doing a 5 hour ride sounds less than appealing.
I have a 4 door truck, so if Odie and Onewheel wanted to join youd be more than welcome

:-\ A sad day gentleman.  I received an offer that was too good to pass up on my 750.  Don't y'all worry though, I have almost two months to replace the void in the stable and I am still committed to doing my part of the rally!  I will keep my eyes peeled for another CB and will have it roadworthy by the end of April.
