guys

its pay to park everywhere down there and I'm not sure how it works on the wharf anymore (I haven't live there since '91) so let's do this

there are 3 lots in sight of the wharf entrance
one right next to it -  directly to the left
a public lot across Beach St on the left
one  across & on the right at the surf shop / liquor store

if we loiter around in those we'll likely be able to spot each other as we drive up.

I'm on a orange 750, brown jacket, silver shoei

there's also parking on Front street which is that "V" intersection on the right

I met Sean in Rosamond and carried Godzilla to San Luis Obispo on 4/27/11 (was I the first female rider?--or solo female rider since I think another female accompanied her husband).

Miles with Godzilla from Rosamond to SLO was 197.  Sean and I did the Willows Spring ride (2 laps each) and Sean carried Godzilla through that.  What an experience... 8)

We met with Matt in SLO last night and this morning at 10am handed off Godzilla to Matt (Sean and he were on their way toward San Francisco to meet up with the others).  So Godzilla got his hand-off at the Pacific in Morro Bay (so that was another 15 miles with Sean from SLO to Morro Bay).   total Central Coast/California for Godzilla is Rosamond to SLO>197 from SLO to Morro Bay for handoff>15 miles.

I will write up and post pics in a bit.

What is the current location of Godzilla and when will he hit the road again and how far will he travel?

Ofreen and my crew are following the unforgiving weather issues between you guys and us. Greg has to cross a lonely desert and I the Rocky Mountains & continental divide with probably the last nasty winter/spring storm of the season that will cover the entire area it looks like.

Someone(s) may have to hole up and drink for a day  :D

I arrived home in Oakland at 9:20 pm tonight, tired and chilled. Godzilla has retired to Pacifica with FatMatt. A beautiful day riding the coast and forests of California. I will sleep the sleep of the dead tonight. Thanks Rxman, and the crew for an awesome day. Special props to Matt and especially Scondon for logging beaucoup ironbutt miles. Great to meet y'all. Cheers, -Mike

I talked to Scondon last night.  The preliminary plan is to meet up tomorrow night or Saturday morning in Fernley for the handoff.  I intend to take off out of here tomorrow mid-morning to let it warm up a bit.  There is good potential for snow and ice along the stretch in SE Oregon from Jordan Valley to McDermitt in the morning as it is snowing there now.  Forecast daytime highs in that stretch are only to the mid-30s.  Temperature in Burns and Rome is now 31 and it will drop a lot behind the front.  Saturday and Sunday the daytime highs will be in the 30's across US50.  The sad thing is that in 4 or 5 days they will be in the 60's.  Our timing sucks.

Rendevouzs are on. From this am:  FatMatt650 is heading out to meet up with SCondon. From 2am: Ofreen is giving the morning a little time to warm up then hitting the road around 10:30. Reno, here they come. I'd say do a little gambling while there. Everyone has been a winner so far!  ;D

Well, I/m not going anywhere right now.  US95 is closed in Oregon due to snow.  It is snowing now all across that route.  The forecast says the freezing level will go no higher than 3500 ft today.  All of that is above 3500 soo I don't expect to see much melt.  Here is the road cam at Jordan Valley near the Idaho-Oregon line.  Sean, I left you a voice message.

I am keeping an eye on it.  It looks good tomorrow, but getting to Fernley today would make the rest of the trip easier.  I talked to Sean, so he knows what's up.  I'll keep you advised.

Did you guys have a motel planned out? If those guys get to Reno and need to head back before you can get there, this wouldn't be any fun but, they can probably convince the folks at the motel to keep an eye on Godzilla until your arrival. We can always Photoshop pix of you guys together  :)

Can't you guys take a break? You all have been logging amazing miles but now doing those miles in truly dangerous weather is way beyond the call. If Jerry's report of actually reasonable conditions in just a few days is accurate, why not take a break? Be safe. A few days one way or the other won't make or break this fantastic, six month long ride. Whether G gets to Ohio on the 17th or the 20th or 25th doesn't mean anything to me-- but that's just me. We all need to be flexible on schedule and we'll get it all done no matter what, even if plans have to change. Please, please, please you all be careful.

And yeah, pix of TT, priceless.

Gotta go for those windows of opportunity BUT SAFELY. Ofreen and us only need a couple hours in the right places, some bright sunshine, and a little common sense. Once past said window of opportunity it's all downhill CAREFULLY. SAFELY AND CAREFULLY!

Glad to hear your son is OK!!!!
Just to set the record straight, and give credit where credit is due, I only rode my bike 588 miles out of the total miles listed. Sean "Superman" Condon did more miles to take the hand-off in 29 Palms that day, before continuing to Rosamond! :o :o :o
Also, kayjohn and Jim were the ones that carried G across the desert; I was riding in the truck with my bike on the trailer. The guys were telling me I was going to get a lot of ribbing about it when we took the pics of the hand-off. :D
It truly was a team effort, which is what the relay is all about...
Don't fix it if it ain't broke!

Godzilla Update:

Godzilla heads east! I spoke with Ofreen/Greg a little after 9am this morning. After a later than planned early afternoon start yesterday due to the snow and cold in his area, he gave the roads time to clear up some and headed out. Said he arrived in Fernley, NV 9pm'ish and met up with FatMatt and SCondon. The official Godzilla handoff has taken place once again. Now, Team Frozen Tundra Colorado MUST get across the continental divide to meet Ofreen in Spanish Fork Monday afternoon. We are keeping our fingers crossed to say the least. Our weather is good at my home now but I don't live on the Continental Divide and we have 1 more day for #$%* to go south before we plan on leaving. Thanks to our Super Heroes - Sean, Matt, and Greg - for a great handoff leg!

'twas a bit chilly crossing into in Nevada, but otherwise beautiful. When we came into Fernley,NV on Friday night I could see the system up north that Ofreen/Greg was concerned about, and was surprised when I checked my messages and heard he was arriving in less than two hours.

If it was cold, wet, dangerous, or a hardship for Greg to make it you would never be able to tell from his demeanor. Looked like he had just come from the next town over. Made of sturdy stuff and I'm glad Godzilla is in capable hands.
Give me..a frame to build a bike on, and my imagination will build upon that frame
