We did the cave tour on the very last day they allowed flash photography.

That was worth the price of admission on a hot day!

There is a hand-off at NM-AZ, one at Kingman , the Vegas sign picture op and a Barstow hand-off TBD and a hand-off to team 5 at Salt Lake TBD. So there's a lot to be filled in but this is a really good start. O would think the routes would be more picturesque rather than slabbing it for the purposes of making time. There's a lot of neat rodes out there.

Looking like Team Central Rockies aka Team 5 might be taking the handoff from Ofreen at Baker, NV along US50 rather than riding I-80.

Cool maps!!! Looks like you SoCalers are wanting to ride the coast to San Fran instead of Yosemite.Works for me. Looks like Greg wants to meet up in Fallon,Nv. instead of Reno so I may not hook up in Monterey but farther east(like mebbe Tracy??).It just depends on what everyone else is gonna do.Good to see the progress.

Well that 101 north is a real drag in my opinion. Just miles of boring rough concrete slab with back breaking bumps. What about a route up over the grapevine and then 99 to the Kern river road to Lake Isabella and then up the back to Mammoth and Yosemite? That sounds more interesting that banging it to Monterey just to do a handoff . Maybe Yosemite would be a good meeting spot. What do you think? Can you propose a route in that area? I don't think anyone in SOCAL is dead set on the 101, or the 5 or 99 for that mater.

I'm all for Yosemite.Mebbe the bay area crew could meet somewhere between SF and Livermore or Tracy.Looks like "IT" will get photo ops. at San Fran or Yosemite but not both.You guys coming up will have to pick either one(it's your ride!!!).

Well..prolly not my place since I won't be along on that leg..but the way that Modesto to Reno is laid out it's 1.5 hrs of

boring until you get to Auburn and then its 2 hrs of

OK until you get to Reno (3.5 hrs/218mi)..If i was going, I'd go 108 from Modesto to Sonora, up 49 to

50 at Placerville or

88 at Jackson to 89 to Tahoe, up the west side to Incline Village and Reno. Adds about 3 hours but only about 45 miles..(6hrs/260mi)..MUCH more scenic, more historical interest, and safer riding if you can avoid the snarl of

freeways and crazies in Sac altogether. And..if it's summer and 110 in the shade, you dont want to ride the

valley floor...

Hey guys, these maps are a rough estimate based on what posts I've seen so far. The route up the coast was just a guesstimate. Please continue with the ideas/feedback, such as mrbreeze's, so we can dial this thing in.

mrbreeze, is this closer to what you had in mind? Again, this is rough. If each of you chime in with your idea hand off points to each other, then you can work out the routes. Trying to read each route description and connect the dots is melting my brain.

I'll post Daniels as the latest alternative to the bay area rides. Daniel, could yo also try one the way I described earlier, up the 5 to 99 then off to Lake Isabella and up the back way to Yosemite. Maybe at some point we can have multiple alternatives on the same map. And Daniel is correct, these were our first attempts as talking points but would like to see suggestions for more interesting terrain back road rides and avoid the freeways and cities altogether.

I just use the Windows 7 snipper to grab it to a jpg.

Oh. Doesn't work in XP..

I can tell you tho, that 395 up the east side thru Gardnerville to Reno is nice but desert like, nicer than the SacValley, but still not as nice as hwy 4 or 88 to 89 and the Tahoe area....spent a lot of time riding and driving in that area, and Yosemite itself is likely to be bumper to bumper tourist traffic April thru September

Don't want to leave them out. I believe they wanted the route from Monterey to the bay area. Maybe there's a way to cut across the mountains through Yosemite to the coast to join them. We'll see. Plus the 88/89 route to Reno seems nicer than 50 as well. The locals are going to have to educate us what's best in their areas. After all this is their ride in their routes. We'e making progress though by just getting feedback.

What I was talkin was Modesto-Sonora-Jackson-Pioneer-TahoeValley-Tahoe City-Incline Village-Reno or..Modesto-Sonora-Placerville-Tahoe Valley-Tahoe city-Incline-Reno but if there's folks coming up from Bakersfield..that map looks nice, there's also a road from Visalia up to King's Canyon/Sequoia that's pretty awesome too, if you want to go up, thru the forest and over to Bishop and up 395...if you're coming up 395, you can also catch 89 at Markleevilee and go up and around the Lake instead of along the flats thru Gardnerville and Carson City..depends on if you like twisties and scenery or not....

I know I'm a new-be here but I still like scottly #61 and my #60 and #62 posts for a route. It is more miles and time consuming but better scenery and like scottly said freeways are boring.
We would meet at the I-40 turn off at Crookton/Rt66. We would have a chase vehicle with supplies for bikes and riders. From Crookton to Kingman is the longest continuous section of historic Rt66 including Kingman through Oatman to Topock.
Options could be from Topock Az. west on I-40 to the Searchlight turn off north to Bolder city. or from Kingman north west on 95 to Bolder city and on to Vegas to include them.

Regarding the Arizona route map....uhmmm, how do I say this?.....the proposed route manages to avoid just about every great piece of riding in the state.

But perhaps were just trying to go with the easiest straight shot?
