Great!! I recall you normally take I-15; would you consider heading south on 95, then heading west on 62 to Twentynine Palms? If so, I might go that far west. Interstates are boring!

Where you would pick "IT" up? Yea, I would do that, looks like an interesting route. I've done I-15 way too many times.

As close as we have come to a plan, "IT" will enter AZ from NM at Duncan, from there it will head northwest, on a route yet to be determined, towards Kingman/Oatman, then head west towards SoCal, and then north, until heading back east through Yosemite into NV. Whew, that's it a nutshell! We've still got three months to plan, so everyone think about preferred routes...

So what about all you folks in SoCal? Do you want to take the 101 north (bumper-to-bumper at 70MPH until San Luis Obispo), or take an in-land route north, between I-5 and the 101. Head west on 58 at McKittrick, then follow 1 up the coast to Big Sur and Monterey?

Cool, just wanted to make sure. And as a matter of fact, I just got my CB registered two days ago for the first time! It's taken me 18 months to get her roadworthy and legal. I've still got a lot to do before I'd trust her on a 300+ mile ride, but I'll step it up in the garage in the next few months.

Route suggestion from I-10/Phoenix.

From centrial Phoenix head northwest on state Rt 93 into Wickenburg.
just north of Wickenburg pick up State Rt 89 north into Prescott and on up to I-40/Ashfork.
Head west 5 miles on I-40 to Historic Rt.66 at Crookton rd.
Rt.66 to Kingman and on to Oatman.

That will give the rides a variety of riding from desert to pines.

Be prepared for all kinds of weather. We have had everything from snow in Seligman. rain and 90 degree days in Kingman.

We can offer support starting at Crookton Rd all the way to Kingman.

Another route north would from Globe to Payson (88 to 188 to 87), then the 260 over to Cottonwood, then 89A up through Jerome, to 89.

I just reread the first page of this post about letting others know what I'm thinking. I have already stated that I would be good with a coastal route or an inland route and run it to Reno to hand off there.It already looks to me like there will be no run north of San Fran unless people are coming down into San Fran and heading east.You guys down south are setting up a good plan to get through Arizona to SoCal but I'm wanting to know which route you would prefer to get it from SoCal to NorCal and how many might be making this leg of the journey.I haven't heard of anyone coming down from the north and heading east to Reno.Once this is established, I would like to know where people might wanna stop for the evening if at all.I don't know if I could bite off 500 miles in one day but if I had at a few other riders along it would sure make it a better ride.Lemme know.......

OK my PMs and email appear to be working again so I can get re-engaged.

The AZ-CA-NV team is the fourth route and forth team as far as I can tell. The first team from the southwest seems to be well defined and tentatively planned to leave bike week in Daytona between March 4th and 13th. Their route traverses around 1100 miles heading mainly north to West Virginia. It would nice at this point to document somewhere what the hand-off point will be and on what date. Looks to me it's at least a couple of weeks ride putting the hand-off at the first of April?

The second team from the southeast is somewhat less defined but covers a similar distance heading south again through six states and terminating in Arkansas?? Maybe mid April??

The third team from the southwest seems well organized with multiple routes defines but quite a bit of distance to cover - maybe 1500 miles or more which also would take a couple of weeks to get to us in AZ maybe the first part of May??

So that leaves us to continue putting on the maps the routes and participants but it looks like we might be riding starting in AZ sometime the first part of May and continuing to the first of June. That's about as much as I can guess from this so far. Remind me again who is on what route and what time frame and I'll also try to dig it out of the thread here. If you want to PM me your email address, I'll start an email distribution too so nothing falls through the cracks if PMs or emails here stop working again.

Jerry, is this summarized somewhere and did I miss it?

I have been PM's some map proposals and I'll start posting those here too later today. Take a look at the Texas routes as I like the way they've handled it too.

Lookin' good bro!

Routing we should work on but times will have to be somewhat flexible as you know until it gets close to your group/any group. I roughly figured in 2 months for each transcontinental leg for a total ride time of 6 months from the beginning of March to the end of August before it gets prohibitively cold up north. Each group is therefore dependant on the one/ones before them.

1/18/2011 update

Just trying to summarize here...

Still not clear who and when team 3 will get to AZ but scotty and kslrr and Climbingaz have proposed a couple of routes in AZ heading to CA. kslrr, can you put those on your map with your names as well. Looks like Kingman to CA on route 40. Is that correct? So the lower portions of AZ through 8 or 10 do not seem to be adopted yet.

Second ofreen is proposing routes through NV from Reno towards UT across 50, ( from Tahoe?). Maybe we can get that on the map too.

It's not clear how the 8-10 guys riding SOHC4 Denver's Choppers out of a shop close to Vegas would fit into one of these routes as they are on 15. Let's put them on the map anyway. OK kslrr?

Third grumpy and domer are defining routes from the Monterey area to SF.

mrbreeze is proposing the route from SF to Reno or portions therein/

Let's put geminimotors in Oakland, CA on the map. He's in for a leg into or out of the Bay Area. He has shop space, secure parking, as well as guest room, couches, and a big bbq if a posse needs to rest, relax or repair. Cheer, -Mike Taylor geminimotors@gmail.com

OneWheelDrive - San Diego - SoCal - slabbing it? I don't see an alternative unless the inland empire, palamar and the mountains - wadayathink?

So, once again if you can put these on our map kslrr, we'll have a better talking point. I'll post this update at the end of this thread as well.

Actually I'll be on US highway 50 across Nevada, then wherever I need to go to make the hand-off in Utah.

Allllrighty then..... glad to hear that. I'll eliminate Wendover from my mapping. Check this idea out - How about meeting someone at Baker, NV? A hole in the road a few miles off 50. Near Great Basin Park too. Not a lot of places near the border plus gas is a necessity.

We ended up staying in the rear section in a converted subdivided house trailer that I dubbed the Yellow Submarine due to it's yellow paint. Perfect for bikers

Baker sounds good. I know the area well. Great Basin park is one of my favorites. Still no admission fee last time I was there, unless you wanted to go into the caves. The campgrounds are good in the summer as they at a high elevation and cool off in the evening. The place is one of NPS's best kept secrets.
