88/89 to/from Reno IS nice. Been there done that. So is the routing around Sequoia, Kings Canyon and Yosemite. Did that from US6. While I-80 can make up some time it is not my preference unless you like being around cars running 100mph.

That could work!!!!The bay area team could take pics in San Fran before they got to me and then we could take more in Yosemite the next day. Great idea!!!! I'm totally onboard with this route.I don't know how far you guys in the bay area wanna run but I'd be hella pleased to run out to Fallon with some or all of you guys!! I've been on every pass over the mts. except for Tioga (Yosemite) and 88.Hiway 4 (Ebbets) is a great run as is Sonora pass.................Damn....I'm gettin'jazzed just thinkin' about it!!!! Took mine out to Oakdale and a bit beyond today(Foggy....in the low 50's) put down 45 miles......gotta keep them spiders from turnin' my Kerker into a bug condominium!!!Keep the ideas coming!!!...I'm diggin' it!!

I'm with you Jerry.....80 is for sure gonna be quicker(with more 100mph cagers tryin' to get to Reno and win the lottery or some sh!t) but like we said earlier...It aint no race and we will see better scenery if we are taking our time on the more southerly hiways.I need to hear from the bay area bros and see how far east they wanna run.

They are all 70s and 80s vintage. Some restored,some are magazine bikes the rest are original pieces of Denver Mullins history. And we ride them all.

Man I'd say we're lucky to have so many folks in the different areas providing great input on their portion of the ride. After all this is your ride. Having said that the first attempt at mapping tried to lay out major routes, people on those routes and hand-off areas. We're making progress there and it's easier for me to look at a map than disect a description of the route. It's probably a good time to get off the freeways and define the detailed routes. To be honest kayjohn, I missed posts 60-62 so I'll draw something up or Dan will for that route 66 route. We're going to have multiple alternatives which is great. I wish I knew how to get them on one map.

Still need to get kayjohn, scotty and Ndstrylgrnrngr's updates mapped.

Here's part of the alt route. Dan, maybe you can improve. 327 miles and 7 hrs non stop. Looks like two days to me.

If you guys do Skyline to Alice's, make sure you do it on a weekend! Don't know what it's like now, but 30 years ago it was an event "on any Sunday"! Every time I went I saw some very cool bikes, such as a turbo Kawi 900 (the owner confessed that the frame was somewhat flimsy before he put the turbo on, and he had to be very careful), and a TZ(?) Yam racer frame fitted with a Yam 500 thumper from a dirt bike.

oh its still packed on the weekends! I got married across the street from alices a couple months back...

Across the street? I hope you don't mean in the asphalt triangle of the intersection! It sure is nice down there. Lot's more green and shady than Oakland's historic Urine District. Beautiful place to get hitched.

I was there a coupla years ago and I will say this........Have no idea what is across the street but hella bikes everywhere and if you pull up on an old Honda (or anything outa the ordinary), you will be swamped with people wanting to chew your ear off and it may take you awhile to go get yourself some grub!!!! Not really a bad thing but ya know!!!!

When passing through Phoenix, my garage will be open to anyone who needs to make repairs and adjustments. Bobs Used Cycles is also about 1 mile north of me so I parts can be had.

Since I never really have to much time off of work my plan is going to be to meet the group at the eastern state line of AZ and ride as long as I can play hooky from work.

I'm still in for alices to SF... Can't promise an further as I have issues getting time off work (sole engineer for a 109 year old 60 room hotel) but if "IT" shows up on a weekend....

I had been to alices many times and never knew this was there. It's across the street, next to the gas station. It was actually kind of cool being out there on a hot Sunday, saying my vows to the tune of HUNDREDS of bikes. I'll never forget it

I'm sort of in the same boat as you with work/family obligations. Why don't we team up for the Eastern portion (Duncan handoff) and get "IT" to Phoenix? That should only take one long day and then the rest, if we can swing it, would be gravy. And I know I'm being a complete tool for even thinking this....but I might trailer my bike to Duncan and have a friend follow us/me in the truck on the ride.

Trailers? They're fine with us. lol

Usually when you have one you never need it.

Our girls like to ride with us but our bikes all being hardtails their seat time is short. and with some of our bikes having small tanks it's nice to have extra gas on hand.

FYI. The Laughlin river Run is April 27th/May 1st. 40,000 bikes. The RT 66 Fun Run is April 29th/May 1st. 800 plus classic cars. I can't believe the Fun Run did it again. They did this once before and it was a madhouse. I've been associated with the RT 66 Assn, since the first year back in 1988. and if the 1st of May falls on a Sunday it's moved to the next weekend. The River Run is allways the last weekend of April including May 1st when it's on Sunday. The new powers to be this year don't seem to care what the impact of these two events is when they are on the same weekend. The motels and restaurants suffer the most getting only one weekend to profit.

The shop I work at is on RT66 right in the middle of the Saturday show. We open up the shop to display my paint work and provide a place for the judges to get out of the sun and pick the class winners. having the two events a week apart is good for us because we ride and display our choppers in the showroom the first weekend and then the cars the next weekend.

So now if the Relay runs through Kingman during that weekend ( I hope ) I will kick the Fun Run judges to the curb because I can and go for a nice ride instead.

Let me contact everyone in the CA team and see if we can commit to some hard dates. I'd like to see the Laughlin ride too but team one is leaving Daytona March 13 and will be handing off to team two the end of March. That leaves just a month to April 1 so it's tight. I'll ask what everyone else on the team thinks. Ride start is only five weeks away.

My guess for an ideal date would be leaving from a layover in Prescott on April 29th (Fri). Meet up with us at the Crookton rd/ I-40, travel to Kingman. Should be their by mid afternoon. Could do a lunch thing, Repairs if need be and then ride down to Laughlin Nv. that afternoon. about 35 miles. Ride back to Kingman that night.
Leave from Kingman April 30th to Vegas through Oatman or straight up 93.

This could also work for April 30th and May 1st but we will be sharing Rt 66 with allot of cars both days.

For what it's worth, from my house to I-40 at Ashfork, on 89, in a car, takes just over 1 hour. Probably a little less from Prescott, and a little more from Jerome.(I would strongly recommend the ride through Jerome from the Verde Valley to 89.)
From Ashfork to Kingman takes about 1 1/2 hours, on the Interstate, cruising at 80. Kay, any idea of how long it takes from Seligman to Kingman on rt 66, at a comfortable pace?

Huhh?? Complete tool?? No Way!! How many bikes will your trailer hold? And you can carry tools and spare parts! If I could ride one way, and trailer back the other, I would ride twice as far!

I always stop at the store at Hackberry. He has gotten rid of a lot the last few years, but there still is some cool stuff.
