I had a full day of questions like that today: why is my freshly rebuilt caliper leaking? Why won't the fuel line reach the petcock? Where is the 10mm wrench I had in my hand 10 seconds ago??? :o :o

I spoke with Kayjohn today: he and the other riders in Kingman are going all the way to Joshua Tree with me on Tuesday. Anyone from SoCal going to meet up with us there????

After 100 miles it looks like the oil is staying in the engine(for the most part), and I should be able to hit the road and meet up with y'all. Is the plan for the SoCal riders to to overnight in Joshua tree? Or is it a hand-off, ride to Rosamond, do a lap then ride to San Luis Obispo all in one day. I will be riding down from SF Bay Area so am trying to figure when and where I need to be.

Please PM me with your # scottly, I've already sent ya mine.

Hand-off in JT at 1:00 Tuesday, spend the night in Rosamond, take the lap Wed morning, then ride up to SLO wed afternoon.

Made it to Shawn's place in Tempe about 8 PM. Bike ran OK, other than a slight lean hesitation, but after I got off the freeway and stopped to check directions, the bike was hot, and hard to kick. Shawn came with the trailer and we towed my bike a few blocks to his house. Going to hit the road early tomorrow for the hand-off from Justin in NM.

Matt, Greg,

We are planning on meeting Greg (Ofreen) in Spanish Fork, UT on Monday 5/2. That will give either Greg or your team 1 additional day provided it doesn't get used up during the next week due to "circumstances". Not sure what Greg's final plans are yet other than 5/2.

A handoff at Fernley either later in the day 4/29 or first thing 5/30 will work great for me.  I sent a PM to mrbreeze and will firm things up when I hear from him.  Sounds like scondon will be there, too.  After the handoff to you in Spanish Fork, I'll head for the barn and wait until the relay heads back west and maybe join in again depending on what Ndstrylgrnrngr wants to do.

Matt -
We need to finalize where we're gonna  meet you guys on your way up from SLO.
TT was talking about joining in Santa Cruz
I could meet up earlier - like somewhere around Monterey.

Did you decide the route up? 1 is still hosed, right?
Looks like it might have to be 101 to at least Greenfield - where you could bail to hwy 16 (Arroyo Seco / Careml Valley Rd)  west to Carmel then up 1... But that might be full of locals trying to get around the slide...
There are roads that run between the fields along 101 between SLO and Greenfield but I don't know whether any of those would be better than just blasting 101 & getting it over with.

Domer - how's your schedule looking?

I'm cool w/ whatever for the SC meet-up. The lot at steamers is probably as good a spot as any. I'd say maybe at a bar but that could get dangerous if somebodies running late.
I'm trying to identify where exactly the closure is to see if there might be a funner way around but I'm not having a lot of luck. The ca.dot. website has good info but I can't seem to match that up to where exactly it is on google maps. I'll keep trying.
So much to do, so little time.

Handoff went well. Justin met us (Shawn (climbingAZ), Scott (Scotly), and myself (RAFster122S))  at a place to eat in Lordsburg around 11:35AM New Mexico time.  We had a bite to eat and enjoyed our time with Justin chatting about the ride and various other topics. Then it was time to hit the road and continue Godzilla's Ride. We said our good byes and wished Justin well with a strong wind to his back now he was heading East and we faced a 25-30 mph estimated wind to our faces and cross wind from time  to time.  Shawn rode for about 40 miles or so before giving me a turn. Let's say my ride is probably the shortest as my 6' 4" frame doesn't fit his 750 with clubmans and no rearsets.

Scott and I continued in chase averaging around 65mph due to the headwinds and returned to Willcox, AZ where we met up this morning. I bid Shawn and Scott safe travels and good speed and we parted company around 3:30PM AZ time.

I finally got a little bit of time to get back on track with the ride.....just started a new job couple a weeks ago. I told this guy when he hired me that I would need a day or two off at the end of the month for the ride. So it is looking like I should take off work Friday the 29th (my little sister's birthday). Sean & Greg.............I will call you tomorrow night and we will get our game plan on. Sean.....What time could you be in the Stockton/Modesto area on Friday?? We could leave early and meet Greg on Friday or leave later and spend the night in Reno or Fernley and catch Greg early Saturday morning. I'll give you guys a call tomorrow evening.

I'm, free and clear for thursday... "i have family i havent seen in a long time coming into town on thursday" ::cough::cough:: so i got the whole damn day off... i think gemini and greggo are gonna meet me at my place and we are gonna roll hwy 1 down to Santa Cruz. still trying to get a time frame idea... i was thinking just meet on the pier, usually lots of parking during the day, food options, and its not downtown s.c.

Can I have a motorcycle when I get old enough?
If you take care of it.
What do you have to do?
Lot’s of things. You’ve been watching me.
Will you show me all of them?
Sure.
Is it hard?
Not if you have the right attitudes. It’s having the right attitudes that’s hard.

Yep!  And coming down from Idaho to do it.  Another Lone Ranger!

I can't promise anything, but I'll talk to my dad tonight.  He lives in Reno and might be willing to tag along on his Ninja 650 for part of the ride.

I've got a couple of friends riding along on their bikes.  Not SOHC4s, but they are Hondas. ;)

It's actually Reno to Spanish Fork, UT. 557 miles. Across "The Loneliest Road In America", US50. It's actually a great ride. We had to alter our meeting point from Baker, NV due to time constraints on our part. We didn't have that extra day and Greg had to head back north to Idaho anyway.

I'm sure Ofreen would welcome the company on his 130,000 mile 750F.

At least he gets to "see" people in Reno and Spanish Fork, UT on the hand offs.  ;)

edit - just saw he will have company, whew, I feel better now!

I'm booked in Rosamond Tuesday night and San Luis Obispo on Wednesday night. After seeing the miles I gotta put in on day 1 there is NO WAY I am going to sleep on anything but a mattress on this trip!!  :o

My last correspondence with scottly says that there is no one confirmed to grab godzilla at Joshua Tree tomorrow so I'll be leaving at 4am for a 650 mile burn to grab him and head to a shower and bed in Rosamond. Looking forward to meeting up with Mooshie on Wednesday for our lap at Willow Springs and the chance to meet Big Jay in the flesh, then off to San Luis Obispo for another nights sleep before heading towards home on Thursday. Friday I'll meet with MrBreeze and head to Nevada.

I like to pride myself in the amount of miles I have put on bikes, but this is just plain nuts. 1,666 miles of bumps before it's over, and all on a bike held together by magic spells and pixie dust. Say a prayer to the SOHC4 gods that I and the bike make it. And if I meet ya on the road, forgive me if I'm a mess :P

Hitting the road in 14hrs:
