I have informed Jay that the riders will be pulling in on Tuesday and to expect them Wednesday. He's notifying the track guys. Says he's looking forward to this! No further info than that. How many riders will be there?

No SoCal riders in JT?? Wow!!
As of today 3/13/2012 my original owner 75 CB750F has made it through 3 wives, er EX-wives. Free at last.  ;-)

I'll be leaving at 4am for a 650 mile burn to grab him and head to a shower and bed in Rosamond.

Just heard there are going to be 50 mile per hour gusts in the Joshua Tree to Rosamond area on Tuesday.  I am a bit nervous about winds that strong (my best has been in gusts of 33 mile per hour.... :-[).  I am still going to be on the Rosamond ride and will be there on Wednesday (if not Tuesday night).
Sean I will PM you in a bit to discuss what is the time frame for our Wednesday ride (just in case I have to make the ride from Santa Barbara to Rosamond on Wednesday morning -no winds in the forecast on Wednesday).

Scondon, where are you staying in SLO? I'll be camping out in Morro Bay or maybe down in Montana de Oro. Looks like the hwy 1 closure has been fixed but now there's a new one a little further south. Perhaps it'll be open in time to take the 1 all the way up. Looks the weather is gonna be just about perfect(apologies in advance for jinxing it)!

Just got off the phone with Scottly, who is doing the handoff with Scondon in Joshua Tree.  Scottly hasn't heard from Scondon in awhile, hopes everything is okay.  Scottly and the gang are running just a few minutes behind schedule.  Apparently a carb pod on one of the choppers blew off, but they found it, and got a new clamp at a hardware store.

I just sent Scondon a text with the update.  I'll act as the go between for the two of them if phone service is an issue.  Scottly cannot send or receive any test messages on his phone, but his phone reception seemed to be fairly decent when I spoke with him.

Fingers Crossed!

He texted me at a gas stop at 9:30 am PST.  He was at highway 58 on his way toward the 395 (about 50 miles from the 395).  That should have taken him about 3+ hours to get to JT if he rode straight through.  I am meeting him at his hotel in Rosamond around 10am tomorrow for the Willow ride and off to SLO

I'm still holding out hope for Hwy 1 to get cleared in time. As of now there is one landslide blockage south of Gorda. I'll be taking the one to there and then Naciemento-Furguson rd. to G14 down through the mountains. If 1 re-opens tomorrow I may camp at San Simeon and meet y'all on the way up, if not I'll probably head down and meet up in SLO.

Naciemento-Furguson rd. to G14 down through the mountains.
does that really go thru?
looks like a goat path from google...

let us know what route you're gonna take up from SLO so we know where/when to meet you.

if one is open & you're coming up that way then I'll try to hook up along there someplace. I'm in gilroy so could just just go down 156 toward monterey  & meet you at pebble beach to do some burn outs on the 18th green   8)

I just pm'ed my contact info.

Hey, it just occurred to me, is Team West going to reach the coast and let GZ dip his tail in the Pacific, or are you going to reserve that priviledge for Team Pacific Northwest? Either way, enjoy the ride!

I was thinking the same thing! Have we named a definite meetup spot in Santa Cruz? The boardwalk is spitting distance from the Pacific, yes?

This route puts us in Santa Cruz around 2 or 3 o'clock if we get going at 9 am.

If 1 is open the whole way that'll cut 2 hours off it. I'm leaving around 9 tomorrow morning so I'll send out a few texts to let y'all know when to meet up. I've never been to the boardwalk before but I imagine we'll be able to spot each other pretty easy. I'm gonna go ahead and live dangerously and post up my # right here for the whole world to see - 650-438-0565. See ya soon!

Um....

The Boardwalk is a big place.
And you can't really park out front other than the huge pay-lots.
It's like saying "Let's meet in Great America"

We need a specific place / time or we'll never find each other.

I said Cafe Pergolesi earlier.
It has coffee & food while we wait for all to show up and it’s a manageable size.
http://www.theperg.com/index.php

If you want to be by the water then we should do the santa cruz wharf. It's way smaller and you can drive on it. Way more likely to find eachother.
