My New England brothers, here is the arrangements the Rhinebeck organizers have made for us:

Hi Bob,

I have you in on Saturday at 1:00. When you get to the gate tell them you are an exhibitor. We have alot of press attending so you will have good coverage.

I'm thinking of doing the exchange in front of building E. Pray for good weather!
Best regards,
Katherine

Great news Bobby! We are meeting at 7.30am at the Mass Pike/I-495 service area so should be there in good time.

There are only 2 of us coming from the Boston area...any one else from Mass going???

Looking forward to it!
cheers
Andy

Godzilla arrives in New England!!!

The Handoff at Rhinebeck, NY

The guys involved...NY meets New England

As soon as Godzilla saw my K2 he was raring to go....

A day later he was being transferred to the CT riders - Kevin (CB55cafe) and Adam (Yamaha R6 rider) who were taking him off to see the sights in CT:

More photos and text in the Riders Log

Now the New England Leg of the Relay has begun - not too late to join a ride!!

Rain much?

Only on Saturday....not going was not an option. Nothing a little rain gear wont cure.

Bobby R who hates riding in the rain...rode in the rain...

Sunday was dry and a great ride.

For anyone wanting to meet the Great Godzilla and see some SOHC history in action then contact Kevin (CB550cafe) for the CT ride details including Mods and Rockers on the 18th June.

http://www.rockersct.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1443

After this it goes to Ken in Newport, RI (Ken confirm this please!)

Then Boston to VT (handoff to Cupcake)  then onto NH (North Conway) on Saturday 25th June

Ride to the Canadian Border to handoff to Jason (Operator) is for the 2nd/3rd July.

The Ride to the Border date is fixed and will happen rain or shine.

I had planned to ride to the border on the 26th rather than burn up the weekend of the 4th.   We are handing it off to the Maine contingent in Conway?  What time will it hit Brattleboro on the 25th?

Rain much?
Dude, it was cold and miserable on the way back. I have not ridden in the rain for any length of time since the 1970s. I had never ridden this particular bike in the rain at all, she was a champ. There was no way I was not going to do this. I think this verse from Blue Oyster Cult's song Godzilla fits:

"History shows again and again how nature points up the folly of man Godzilla!"

All and all I actually had a wonderful time and am glad I did it.
Dedicated to Sgt. Howard Bruckner 1950 - 1969. KIA LONG KHANH.

But we were boys, and boys will be boys, and so they will. To us, everything was dangerous, but what of that? Had we not been made to live forever?

First time I am hearing this.

If Ken rides up from Newport, RI on the 25th we will be in Brattleboro, VT by 12 - 1pm most likely. What is your plan after this?? I thought you wanted to do Mt Washington and Kangamangus as well? It will be almost impossible to do these two on the 25th....have you mapped it out? Backroads will take a long time to get to North Conway....5 hrs by non-highway road by my reckoning. Factor in 20 min breaks here and there and it becomes longer.

If you go Sunday 26th from North Conway, NH to the border its a 5 hr ride - more with stops. Ill need to back out of this one as it would make my return trip to Boston a 12 hr+ day.

Anyway let me know YOUR plan...is this going to be a rain or shine commitment or is it weather dependent?

Andy

Ok, let's keep it simple since you are coming from Boston.  We'll just ride up Vermont and the Kancamangus to Conway.  Mt. washington is, of course, going to be weather dependent.  Godzilla, being a cold-blooded reptile type, doesn't want to get snowed on on top of some god forsaken mountain in June.  So where does that leave it?  Are we handing it off to anyone in New Hampshire or are they still an unrepresented state?  Are you going to take Godzilla home after that or give him to a Mainer for the Canada leg?  We don't have to adhere to my plan as it is/was going to be a total burn on Sunday.  I was also not counting on coming home until Monday or Tuesday. (I guess ya'll can't do that too easily)  What it does mean is that I won't be riding to Canada the next weekend as I have family obligations and you are on your own.
"Sure, if you don't want that bike in your backyard, I guess I'll take it."  "I'll probably just scrap it......"

Ok just chatted with Cupcake (Scott) and plan is:

Saturday 25th June - Ride to Brattleboro, VT for VT handoff. Ride to North Conway, NH and spend night (motel or camp).

Sunday 26th June -Godzilla scales Mt Washington!!

Now at this point we need to have someone take Godzilla in the North Conway/Maine area. I will then pick him up the week after  - 2nd July and take him to the Border to Jason (Operator) unless someone else can do this long lonely run sooner!!!!

So....73Nancy can you come to North Conway on Sunday 26th and take him back to Maine?

Please let me know...

thanks
Andy

Andy/Bobby,

I DO BELIEVE that Blue Oyster Cult is a Boston band, is it not?! Are you getting my drift here??!! Can anyone track them down for our auspicious occasion?
