I am at the border waiting for them to arrive right now......no now......I guess noon-ish was a little too vague. lol

Cupcake, Anders and I did eventually meet up with Operator at the border between St. Stephens, NB and Maine, although the arrival was about two hours later than planned.

We met up in Candia NH on Friday and rode to Oxford ME to pick up Godzilla after his week with 73nancy.  He was nice enough to give us a tour of the Classic Car Garage where he works. One of the pictures below is of a $3.3M Shelby Cobra being restored, and I think another is a Duesenberg if I remember correctly.

We traveled North from Oxford to Bangor and then up Route 1 the next day to the Canadian border where we met Operator.   Really nice scenery along the way.

Even though I rode my Interceptor on this leg, I still took pics.  I swear that Godzilla didn't touch my bike or ride on it.  Anders and Tree were the representatives for SOHC.  Here's some pics.

Some great blacktop in NH.

Tree (John) placing Godzilla in his new RV outside 73Nancy's shop.

I tired to get some cheap gas but to no avail

Rainbows mean rain.  I think we got really lucky with the weather this weekend but we still got soaked a few times.

Two riders were approaching and the wind began to howl.

Operator decided that it would be quicker to walk across the border rather than ride his bike across.  I saw the line of cars and I believe him.  The 750 with the wind screen belongs to Tree.  He just bought it last week.  It burnt a little oil when we left and by the time we got back to NH, it wasn't burning anything.  The chain looked like a velvet rope it was so rusty and stretched but she held together.  These machines never stop impressing me.

CRUSH SMASH CRUSH CRUSH ROAR!! <breathing fire> Canada would never be the same.

With the first international handoff complete, Anders rides off into the sunset.

I mapped it out and I had over 1000 miles on this run since I lived the furthest away.  Mu speedometer cable broke at 398 on the second day.  When I stopped to check my cable, I lost Tree and Anders for a few hours.  I met up with them in Calais at a gas station but i was about 5 minutes away from giving up and going home. Good times.
Thanks SOHC Forum!!

Good going Gentlemen, and nice pics too Scott. How long did it take to ride to the border?  It sure is important for every member of the group to have a copy of the ride route handy.

I had the idea to find the local Hooters when we were in Bangor just for giggles and pics of the lizard.  Anders quickly pointed out that we may NOT want to go there.  I started looking around at the local "scenery" and I came to the conclusion that he may be right.   ??? ??? :o :o

I'd like to take this opportunity to thank Andy and all of Team New England on a job well done. Continuing the Legacy of Godzilla is job 1 and well done I might add. I know all you guys worked hard and endured much to make it happen. Your ride reports make me want to bag the New England states that much more. They have enlightened myself and others about your beautiful part of the country. Thank you.
As of today 3/13/2012 my original owner 75 CB750F has made it through 3 wives, er EX-wives. Free at last.  ;-)

Hey Jerry you have a bike here waiting for you if you can get across. I have two CB750s and you are most welcome to one.

No thanks needed on getting Godzilla to where it had to go. We are ALL one big team and it has been a real pleasure from start to finish. Riding new roads and meeting new friends.

Thank YOU Jerry for your continuing perseverance in getting this Rally of the ground and having it run as smoothly as it does.

All the best,

Andy

Well it was a tough week at work......

While you all had a holiday on the 4th July I was slaving away at work....

The view from the street next to the lab

UC Santa Barbara and its dumpy campus...

and having to walk past all those beautiful girls on the way to this dive cafe for lunch...

Some views on the way to LA

Cheers
Andy

Anyone looking for an opportunity to ride with Godzilla again??  Due to engine troubles, GZ may be held up in Montreal.  He needs a lift to Ottawa and perhaps a bit further.

I know it's a long shot, but if anyone wants more Zilla Miles, here's your chance!!
Can I have a motorcycle when I get old enough?
If you take care of it.
What do you have to do?
Lot’s of things. You’ve been watching me.
Will you show me all of them?
Sure.
Is it hard?
Not if you have the right attitudes. It’s having the right attitudes that’s hard.

What the hell?  Montreal to Ottawa is like 100 miles or so.  What engine troubles do you speak of?  Do we have more engines than riders?

I don't have the details of the engine troubles, but good news, it's been resolved!!  Y'all are still welcome to ride along, but at this point, Team Canada has it covered!
