Yup, everything on schedule. I spoke with C'villechopper last night and IT is spending a few days in Charlottesville, VA at his place. The next handoff is this weekend in West Virginia. It's likely going to be a tough ride for both C'ville and Silverback, who's planning to make the trip from Lexington, KY to the mountains of WV and back on the same day. C'ville doing the same. It's unseasonably cold around there and rain, maybe snow, is possible in WV. Let's hope they get dry weather at least.

At the risk of being annoying, where the heck is everyone? The silence is deafening!! The ride plan hasn't gotten anywhere for at least a month, maybe more. Our hand-off may still be weeks away (like six to eight). bit there is so much of a gap between "thoughts" and "real plan" that it's becoming worrisome.

Tell me if I'm too anxious and chill-out, or if the lethargy is looking like a problem. Grant you, the weather has been crap in the mid-West and it doesn't feel much like biking, but still . . .

I have been thinking about it some, but I have been very busy at work for the first time in a couple years, it seems to be some what of a distraction. Damn having to feed kids and pay bills :P

I don't think the route is all that important as long as we lock down meeting places dates and times and that really can't be done with any certainty till the day gets a little closer.

I have only ridden my bike once this year I need to get it out change the fluids and clean it up.
I have not mentioned it to the wifey yet but depending on when it hits chi town I was thinking of riding up spending the night and riding back through Indy and maybe to Ohio, I only live about 45 minutes from union city Ohio

Last I saw, Team Central Rockies is planning to hand it to y'all on 5/15.  With that in mind, what date will you be giving it to Team Mid Atlantic?
Can I have a motorcycle when I get old enough?

What do you have to do?
Lot’s of things. You’ve been watching me.
Will you show me all of them?
Sure.
Is it hard?
Not if you have the right attitudes. It’s having the right attitudes that’s hard.

I'm thinking we'll be out of Colorado and into Oakley in W. KS on Sun 5/8 or Mon 5/9 at this point. One more full day and we could make Topeka. I haven't touched base with Richard Backus at Motorcycle Classics about meeting up at their place yet. I'm expecting that to happen Tue 5/10 or Wed 5/11. I do have a day's wiggle room at this point.

We're planning on meeting up with Don R in Topeka then he'll head back with the eastern KS guys and Godzilla. I have to be back for shoulder surgery Mon 5/16. Can't put it off past that date due to pending divorce. She is the one with the insurance. It was originally scheduled for 4/11 but I didn't want to take the chance of trying to ride 2000 miles 3 weeks afterwards. What the hell, the doc can wait, Godzilla won't have to  ;)

Although I'm not on the "official list" yet, I would like to be part of the ride from the Chicago area to INDY (if that's the planed route and weather permitting since the bike refuses to run in rain  :P).
I'm troubled with the idea of having to ride all the way to INDY, and turning around and riding back....or should I ask the wife to follow in the pick-up and offer the possible road-side assistance for any members that may need a lift to the destination should something happen.  I'll probably be spending the night in the Indy area before returning home.

Hey,

zzPete has offered "support vehicle" services.  It sounds like his availability will be good around then.  He's in Chicago.  If I am not riding, I will also be available for support.  Both of us have trucks, tools, SOHC4 experience and possibly parts.  I'll talk to Pete but I imagine we could cover a lot of ground West of Chicago and South to Indy with our trucks.  I HOPE I'm not in a support role but right at this moment, my bike is in a million pieces.  I endeavor to be on the ride.  Even if my K6 does not make it, I may change gears and grab my K7 or K8.  ;)

Hey Team Central!

I'm looking for a list of where Godzilla will be sleeping while in your care.  Do you have a list of overnight locations?  I did a quick scan of your thread and couldn't pull one together,

Thanks!!

It seems like I'm stuck in between TEAM CENTRAL and TEAM MID ATLANTIC. But while in my care, Mr G will be sleeping in Greensburg, Pa after a casual ride from the eastern Ohio line.

Yes, If I am home I could offer lodging for up to 3 in beds or 5 on beds and couch. I buy the beer and steaks. I do work out of town a lot and my 60 year old wife would not be comfortable if I was not home. Thanks Dan Whalen 5633499090

I've almost got the racecar ready for paint so I'll have a little more time to spend here. It's like a reality show with deadlines, setbacks and anxious sponsors but no paulie to yell at. I got the surgery done on my left hand and the stitches are out. I rode some tonight and it went well so both hands are healing OK.

I've sent some PM's to some of the mo and downstate il guys. This has developed a little as I've gone through it so forgive me, I've tuned it a little. POSSIBLE and TENTATIVE plan.

Pick up handoff in Topeka, if we do lunch at MC classics mag that will send us off in the afternoon on route 50. I have a possible crash spot near Sedalia so that may be an overnighter. Then from there continue on 50 to Jeff. City and then 94 toward the St. Louis area for an overnight stop. Then north on 47,79 and 61 to Keokuk, crossing into Illinois going up the great river road through Quincy stopping overnight in the Quad cities area. (Galesburg for me) Rally point near Davenport Ia on I280 at the Giant Honda warehouse? Then north on 84 to the Illinois lincoln highway  IL 30, 2 and 38, east toward St. Charles for lunch, on to Chicago and the handoff.  So far this route will involve as many as possible that spoke up. Input? How about Rally points?
If I start on 5/10 or 5/11 that makes a possible handoff to Chicago on sat 5/14 or sun 5/15.

Then- chicago to indy speedway 1 day, indy to cincy 1 day,  agreed,  Indiana riders?

Then the Ohio leg, cincy ,dayton, columbus, toledo, cleveland and to youngstown and pa handoff?

Popwood and Masterchief? Is this the route and what is the time frame?

We need a rally point for the handoffs and each stop also.

Yes, that's my best guess. Thanks.

I rode the 76F a little, it was better after I tightened the front axle caps. Just a reminder, if your bike's been apart to do a nut and bolt check before riding. I didn't and it could have  been ugly.

Given this time frame, how many riders planning on the Missouri leg?

I guess the next move is to make a list of hand-off locations and people to take Godzilla and etc to the next stop.
I've got Topeka to Chicago.
Gamma flat, are you taking delivery in chicago?
Indy handoff, or at least meet-up, Volunteers?
Is anyone riding all of Ohio?, Volunteers?

I would love to be the handoff guy in Chicago.  I am attempting to make sure my schedule is clear.  So far it's good and I'll be more certain this week.  One thing is for sure.. A weekend handoff is more likely to work better for me.

Breaking news just in! I have a Super Comp points race at Route 66 raceway in Joliet on the 14th. My crew may be able to take the tow rig and I can ride there. Depending on how it works out I may be able to do both. Maybe a rally point too?

I think Godzilla has a mind of his own and we might just have to wait for him.   :)   I imagine there will be holdups along the way.  If the holdup ends up being a week, I'm bummin'.  I'm out of town some of those days.

I continue to follow our group and watch with particular interest what happens in Indiana with regard to Ohio hand-off. I'm pretty sure we have a couple Cincinnati riders (me being one). I've seen nothing from a Dayton rider, I believe there are a couple Columbus riders.

Masterchief, if you come to Cincy for a handoff and head back to Toledo, then handoff to Cleveland (who wants to hand off to Pennsylvania), that will leave out Columbus. Maybe Indianapolis delivers to Dayton (Cincinnati can go there for the handoff) and proceed to Columbus who then heads toward Toledo to handoff to Masterchief, who takes to Cleveland. I've been saying for weeks the plan between Indianapolis and Ohio is way up in the air and based on ideas put forth three months ago by riders we've not heard from since. We need to go with what we know and who is actively engaged here and now.

I agree, it's been very quiet. I'm planning to just do missouri and illinois myself and if anyone can join in, Fantastic. My big brother has some health issues, I'm hoping he can make the ride with me. I talked to part of my race team and got an offer to drive the rig to Joliet if I end up on the bike that week. I don't usually drive so they should be OK.

Chris here from Indy checking in.  Yes, I'm still planning to ride.  I've been holding off chiming in here mostly because of the uncertain arrival date of Godzilla.  I'm fairly confident that's he going to get here later than once thought....so I'm pretty sure there will be no weekend conflicts for me.

I tend to agree with Raef above.....as long as our state handoff points are set, the actual route through IN will work itself out (depending on who participates).

@ GammaFlat:  as I understand it, you are picking up in/around Chicago and planning to ride to Indy (or further)?

Maybe if we have an Indiana "midpoint" set somewhere in Indy for those riders here in and around the city (me included) can join up....I think the Indy Motor Speedway was thrown out there earlier as a possibility.  That would make for a good photo op and is easy to get to being on the West side of the city.

@ Popwood:  I personally don't care if the IN/OH handoff point is Cinci or Dayton.  It's about the same distance for us.  I think that Cinci was originally thrown out there because BrownBomber wanted to participate.  Have you heard from him?  The route to Cinci is probably a bit more interesting/scenic to ride, but then again Dayton is probably closer for Raef to get back home.

Thoughts Hoosiers?
