If they handed out medals for riding through metric tons of water, Bankerdanny, Don R, Bud, Andy and I would have qualified for a boatload of them.  To be fair, it didn't really start pouring until Orland Park.  Just a mist, really.  And then came the deluge.  Probably the most comical moment came when we encountered an unexpected toll on I-80.  Four riders, and only one among us has access to any cash beneath the layers of gear and rainsuits.  Fortunately, Bankerdanny paid for us all.  We finally reach Three Floyds brewery, where our reward for riding fast through rain is to endure standing in it until there's a table for us inside.  Three Floyds is at capacity, and they haven't thought to provide an awning for those waiting outside.  But we made it in, and pints of beer soon rendered our meteorological injustice moot.

This pic is of that happy moment.  They say the camera adds 10 lbs, but in our case its merely water weight.  Three cheers to GZ, SOHC and cheating death wherever possible.  Drink cold, piss warm.

(Me, Bankerdanny, Don R, Bud, Blue72Beetle)

Meteorological injustice.  ;D

Summed up well in two words, I like that.
After all is said and done I already have only good memories of our ride. The cold and wet are only a faint memory but the friendship and comraderie will warm me for a long time.
I still need to download my pics with George and Steve F. along too.

If there's anything you guys need on here that I can help with let me know. Be safe and have at least as much fun as I did. Maybe next time I can ride from Chicago through Ohio.

Only way we could get Jay to ride with us  ;)

Also, rain forecast gets crappier and crappier as the week moves on.  We had a good ride today except for the freaking cold... 60 degree high my A$$.  Not sure it got over 49 degrees until we started back.

"Plywood," I don't know no stinkin' "plywood." :)  These forum avatars, had I known when I first signed on I would have been more thoughtful about my choice. But you see, I've been editor/publisher of Popular Woodworking Magazine for nearly 17 years now so Popwood is an everyday term and "plywood" has some connotations that could be interpreted several ways in the woodworking business.

Hey, no problem really. Just a cheap attempt at humor. Looking forward to the meet-up MyHondas, and yes, Friday has Cleveland written all over it. Where do we pick up the red carpet??

So Poplar_wood,  I can't wait till we meet up and I can hear all about the connotations of 'plywood'. It looks like our meeting place is the Pride of Cleveland Scooters shop. From what I can determine, it will be you, MasterChief750,John D,dna_level_c7, & myself. I hope to have more concrete idea on the Hall of Fame setup in the next day or so. On Friday night, on the east side of town (willoughby) we have a vintage bike night gathering weather permitting. Lot's of things to do and see in town, and a lot of great places to eat.  If you have anything special you want to do or see, let me or John D know.

Paul.....rotflmao.... too f'ing funny! ;D
I am hoping that everything comes together and I can get all the way to Sharon. Won't know until Fri evening or early Sat. morning. I believe as of now, MC750 & John D are planning on the ride and not sure about dna_level_c7 plans. WOW WOW WOW.....can't believe it is in the buckeye's hands already and soon to be in pa.

Tomorrow I will need to do a filter+oil change, adjust and lube the chain, check tire pressures, and a rubber to rubber check of all to make sure marmalade is up to snuff. If I can make the full ride, I want to be sure the bike can too.

Just when I begin to think that I am not a complete moron, something happens to show me how wrong I am. For example, today I solved the problem that kept me stuck at 45 mph in the rain on Saturday and forced Andy to ride alone to Indy Sunday: I tightened the nut holding the blue wire from my 1-2 condenser to the points. Voila, problem solved.

I had the same thing on my race car, loose coil primary wire. People loaned me thousands of dollars worth of parts for a loose screw on a toggle switch. Found it in 10 minutes after the weekend was over.

dna_level_c7,

I guess it depends on when Popwood and Masterchief750 come into town. Meeting at the Pride of Cleveland Scooter Shop on the west side.  They both have my number and can call me when they leave Toledo and give an estimate of when they think they will show up. I can then give you and John D a call for the heads up. See if you can get Friday night off.... then you can possibly attend the vintage bike nights in Willoughby. There may be some there that would like to tag along on the ride. Are you available to ride to Sharon PA on Sat?

MC750.... Not to worry on the speeding.....Most of the roads we will be on are secondary roads and not the superhighways. We all should stay within the 5 mph of the posted and all will be well. How does it look for you on the PA handoff? Is that still a go for you?

Popwood, Are you planning on heading back to Cin after Cleve. or are you planning on going farther? Just so we know.

John D, are you still planning on making the trip to Sharon?

Paul,

I can do that....Not sure what time the group will be leaving here on Sat..... I would figure that it is going to be about a two-2.5 hour ride there. We are planning on the QS&L on Chestnut Ave. aren't we?  When did you want to get started out of sharon? How long is your leg across PA?
