I was reading on previous posts about contacting Honda dealerships. Here in Cincinnati we have Western Hills Honda, one of the very early Honda dealerships and a major player in NOS Honda parts. If you want to come through Cincinnati I can contact them and see if they'd like to welcome us as part of the relay/rally. And since I'm here in town as well, maybe we could have a rally point at my house with something to eat and invite others who aren't on the ride but would like to get together.

I've mentioned earlier a Rt.50 route through Ohio. While it could lead into West Virginia before turning North in Pennsylvania, we could also go to SE Ohio then take an interstate (not a busy one) north in easter Ohio and connect up with I-70 and then head east into Pennsylvania (via a short stint in WV).

Just some thoughts. I'm up for all sorts of suggestions.

So what do you hear from Motorcycle Classics? Sounds like they are interested in our "little" journey. I was thinking of contacting them about more coverage of our leg of the rally. My day job is magazine journalism so they might be willing to listen to a pitch for more coverage, like online blogging with photos and maybe some video, too! Think I'll give the editor Backus a call this week. Could be cool.

And geeez, we've had some reasonable weather this past week so had the bikes out of the barn for some rides for a change. Get's me itchin' for more. SPRING!!!!!

I saw on the main forum Jerry RXman posted just 19 days left until this parade starts in Florida. Isn't it about time a calendar or schedule-- even if it's roughed out and subject to change-- get posted? Have the regional hand-off dates been established? Is there some other central clearing point for all this that I haven't found? I found a map with the general route through all the states and Canada.

I also wonder how we'll be able to follow the progress of the ride once it starts. Anybody know anything about that?

WAY too many individuals and variables. Keep in mind this is the first attempt at anything near this magnitude and it is actually going pretty good.

There are/were plans for an interactive website but I have not been able to get any info/updates from the volunteer soooo that is questionable.............. In lieu of this we may be able to do something similar with/through Motorcycle Classics Magazine. Otherwise it may not happen.

We don't have a date yet but we are on the chart!

Here's what I'm thinking for meeting points, the riders in between can arrange other hand-off or meeting points. Input is requested. Maybe I can post a chart here. Approx mileage, Yours may vary.

Kansas City hand-off to St. Louis, 275 mi.
St. Louis- Chicago, 325mi. I'll take responsibility for this leg and maybe ride along for more,
Chicago-Indianapolis, 185 mi
Indianapolis- Cincinnati, 115 mi.
Cincinnati- Columbus, 120 mi.
Columbus- Wv, Pa Handoff, 140 mi.

You can refer to the main list in this thread to find your riding mates and gather accordingly. I think MO. has a good idea of their Route already. I'm planning to follow as much of Rt 66 in illinois as I can.

This was the route as laid out, I moved it to Chicago, Ohio riders can choose a route, we need to check to see if we still need to pass through Wv. though.

My Hondas, looks like we'll need to work our a North/South Ohio thing as there are at least a couple riders down this way as well. And let's not make this a Browns/Bengals thing!

If there are sufficient riders in Ohio, up/down and side to side, perhaps there could be a couple teams meeting up to hand off to the next group in Eastern Ohio or Western PA. OK, the mascot thing would have be decided but don't know that's such an issue. But I tell you, just routing through the bigger cities and running on boring, busy Interstates doesn't seem that appealing. I don't know if there's a Dayton or Columbus group, but maybe meeting up near Wheeling, if not Pittsbugh, would work out for everyone. Thoughts??

The map was in refrence to Ohio. Not saying that's what it is, just explaining my thought process. I'm enthusiastic about the riders choosing their own route.
That said, we may still need to pass through West Virginia. Let me know what the concensus is among the Ohio riders.
I've taken responsibility for Illinois and took it to Chicago because I felt there was a need and there seems to be a large number of chicago to indy riders so I guess I made a good choice. I don't think I added excessive time to my leg.

DonR, or anyone. Would be good to know how much time we have more or less in each state. In Ohio we have interest from the north and south. If a route looks like Gamma Flats map the north gets cut out. But it's a haul from Cincy to Cleveland and back to mid-state. And where does the PA handoff take place? How about all Ohio riders posting where they are, how much time or miles they are up for and some ideas to start pulling all the Buckeyes together?

I'm in Cincy and could take a handoff here or head north to Dayton area and head NE toward Columbus or N to Toledo.
