OK, hate to say it but I'm out due to life. Rental property I'm staying in is getting foreclosed on and I'm too broke to move anywhere. Life is going to be too hectic for the next couple of months

Bummer man.  If there's a way to cruise near you, maybe you can tag along for a short while.  The route from Chicago to Indy isn't far from you...

Is this our rough route?  I understand we prolly won't be doing I-70.  We can try to keep the visual map updated in Google Maps.

Gamma, I like your routing. And yeah, avoiding any interstates is a good thing. Route 40 to Indy would be better than I-70 any day.

DonR, or anyone. Would be good to know how much time we have more or less in each state. In Ohio we have interest from the north and south. If a route looks like Gamma Flats map the north gets cut out. But it's a haul from Cincy to Cleveland and back to mid-state. And where does the PA handoff take place?  How about all Ohio riders posting where they are, how much time or miles they are up for and some ideas to start pulling all the Buckeyes together?

I'm in Cincy and could take a handoff here or head north to Dayton area and head NE toward Columbus or N to Toledo.

Pop, I can't find it now, but Jerry had a schedule made up that generally gave 3 days per state with CA & TX getting 5 days each.

Just off the top of my head....that sounds like good planning. I can't see it taking any longer than that anywhere. If nothing else...It will take less time than that on some of the legs.

That's a shame man. Remember that these foreclosures can still take a long time to sell. Do you have to move right away or not until it sells? Hope it works out and hopeyou can find a few hours to join in the ride. Good luck!

3 days is good to know and ample time to do what needs to get done in Ohio. That can also mean setting up "rally points" for riders to take a short brake and meet up with locals who can't make the ride. 3 days gives a lot of latitude.

Do we have Ohio riders to make the Columbus Toledo leg, and Toledo riders to complete the leg to Cleveland? Are Cleveland riders ready to finish the last leg to Pittsburgh? And, ah, is Pittsburgh the handoff location for PA?

I think wisconsin and Iowa are scheduled on the return trip from the East Coast.

It would be nice if somehow IT makes it thru KC on the weekend of June 4th and 5th.  The Heart Of America Motorcycle Enthusiasts 2011 Rally and Show is taking place that weekend.  It is a great show to go to and many different makes of vintage bikes make there way to KC for the show.

No promises on dates BUT..... I was just looking at a tentative timetable for Team CA. Looks like Team Central Rockies could be receiving Godzilla the beginning of May. I haven't had any volunteers to ride Utah yet but Ofreen would likely ride with me to near Salt Lake City before I head east on US40. If that were the case then there would likely be 2 scenarios. 1. Ofreen could find a designated drop off for Godzilla and I could pick it up a few days down the road after he heads back to ID or 2. I'd meet Ofreen and haul ass back to Denver (max 3 days across all of UT and 3/4 of CO - I usually ride it in 2 days on my Harley) so I could hit the road for work that Thursday (150 miles from home).  I have to work Th 5-5, 5-6, and 5-7. I can ride any time before then and get Godzilla to Denver or it would have to be the following week. I haven't scheduled anything yet with my crew. I see possibly 3-4 days to finish CO and KS.

With all that said we should hopefully be in KC BEFORE the middle of May. Hell, we haven't started yet and I hope we don't have any issues to bog us down but always possible.
As of today 3/13/2012 my original owner 75 CB750F has made it through 3 wives, er EX-wives. Free at last.  ;-)

To be perfectly honest...I believe that any schedule should have some built-in fudge factor....one must consider the many possibilities that might present themselves. Bike mechanical breakdowns, highway accidents, illness, personal problems, death in the family, etc, etc.
And that would be with a very highly, structured, and dedicated(professional) group of riders. Considering our group doesn't really meet those specs, I think the fudge factor should be a minimum of a week or two. Add the fact that the ride route isn't even fixed per ride sector group, who knows when the package will show up at your door step.

Jerry bit off a big piece and kudo's to him for what he's been able to get done so far. I'm sure there will be hitches along the way and we will deal with it when it happens (and it will).  :o  I'm hitting it in the garage and it  should be no problem getting my F1 ready, just not sure about my body going along so easy. I checked rt66 raceway and there's a nascar june 4 and I do a car show june 5 so I'm hoping to not get it that weekend.

Don and other northern Illinois riders..............Just some thoughts to ponder..........the National Motorcycle Museum in Alamosa, Iowa, is holding a Vintage Rally with a swap meet and a show on June 3-4 (Friday-Sat).  I plan to be there and would carry the package to Rockford or Madison or Milwaukee or Chicago area on June 4-5 (Sat PM or Sunday)...........or I could carry the satchel to Madison and Milwaukee and on to the Vintage Races and shows at Road America on June 10 -11, and then get it to Chicago.  That way we could connect with the return ride from Michigan (UP) in late July and quickly pass to the Minnesota riders.

Let me know what your thinking ............My 750K3 is ready to go.........as soon as the snow melts!

It appears west Va will already be covered by the south east team. That means we don't HAVE to go through if there's a better route to Handoff to Pa.

It appears west Va will already be covered by the south east team. That means we don't HAVE to go through if there's a better route to Handoff to Pa.

For Ohio riders to cut through WV would require a mostly southern route across Ohio and that would potentially be a problem for our N. Ohio riders.

Now there's lots of ways to skin this cat. But in part what needs to be established are the options for hand off points from Indiana and PA. Indiana could head NE and hand off to Toledo who carries to Cleveland who delivers to Columbus. Or Indianapolis riders could head due W to Dayton or SE to Cincinnati.

Then, the PA question comes up. Are there Pittsburgh riders? That would be the logical point regardless of how Ohio gets there. That would work if Ohio approaches from the N, S, or E.

Don R., I think it's your place to contact the PA region coordinator to find out of Pittsburgh is the right place.

Indianapolis riders. Does it matter to you which direction you go for an Ohio handoff? I think the distances are about the same. And it's corn or soybean fields regardless.  :)

Side note: Too bad our timing isn't more conducive to a Vintage Motorcycle Days rally. That would be perfect.

I believe that Paul  05c50 is planning on picking up the eastern OH / western PA handoff which would be somewhere near Pit. since he lives just SE of Pit.

Yup, just posted on the PA portion thread and O5c50 confirmed he's ready for a handoff in the Pittsburgh vicinity.

MyHondas, what's your thoughts on Indiana to Ohio handoff point? Do you care if you go to Columbus vs. Pittsburgh? I mean Indianapolis could go to Toledo, Dayton or Cincinnati, at least theoretically. I'm game for any number of options, I'd just prefer the ride not be too boring.

I think it boils down to this...Who is available to ride, where are they located at, what route do they want to take. I don't want to see anyone left out that is willing and available to ride. So it really doesn't matter what route we take, so long as we keep everyone involved that wants to be. I was under the impression that we had someone in the akron/canton area, but so far, I have not found their post. I know that we have three of us up in the cleveland area. How much each will ride needs to be checked, but I sure that we could either go cleve to columbus or cleve to pit.

If you Ohio boys can ever make up your minds for the route, try to make it to Quaker Steak and Lube in Sharon Pa for the handoff. It's  just across the state line, just north of I-80. It's the original QS&L, has a great bike night on Wednesdays and great wings. If we can work this out.....I'll even buy the wings! ;D
