So....I'll be riding a two-toned bike.  Nobody point and laugh, o.k.?   :o

My K7... should I get it rolling well, will have neked Frankenstuff "original color" side covers  :o... and not the tank of my choosing... and not the exhaust of preference... but dagnabit I want to ride.  Meanwhile, I opened my box today with all my K6 goodies (head, jugs, pistons).  On the other hand, it (my K6) has a nice tank, new HM341's, a new saddle, blah blah blah... but certainly won't be ready for the weekend.

@ Bankderdanny.....about what time do you think you might arrive in Indy?  I think unless you leave Chicago at the crack of dawn, it's likely going to be mid-afternoon...which is fine.  If that's the case, going on to Cincy same day is likely to be more of a race than a leisurely ride for those coming back to Indy that day.

I think that most of the Indy folks were good for Sunday or Monday for sure.....so I would propose this:  if you are o.k. to pause in Indy for an overnight and the Indy-Cincy leg commences on Monday morning (weather permitting, of course), the group can take a more leisurely ride to Cincy and head a bit further South to catch the roads less travelled (and less flat/straight).  There was some off-line talk about getting breakfast down in the hills of Southern IN and then winding our way over to Cincy for a more "scenic route".

Any thoughts on this Indy guys?

As for a Chicago-Indy meetup point....one option would be to meet/greet the Chicago folks as they roll into town somewhere (like @ the Speedway museum as suggested earlier)....split up for the night and meet up again in the morning for departure....
The other option would be for the Chicago folks to get here, relax and just meet up with us in the next morning for departure for Cincy at some other meeting point that we can agree on.

Thoughts?  Ideas?

BTW - I checked in with my painter and my tank is not going to be ready in time for this weekend (Rocker's Reunion or our Relay ride).  Luckily my buddy at work has a 500 that isn't running at the moment (not lucky for him, though) and he loaned me his tank.  So....I'll be riding a two-toned bike.  Nobody point and laugh, o.k.?   :o

I was figuring that we would spend the night in Indy and then head over to Cincy on Monday. We have plenty of time, I expect to get rained on Sunday, possibly the whole way to Indy. After 6 hours in the rain I expect to be ready to call it a day in Indy.

So, to clarify.  For the Chicago handoff, Portillos in St. Charles, any particular time?  Its getting close to the 14th and I took time off work.

Is that where you will be pulling out of Sunday morning? I think I'm planning on riding over close to Chicago Saturday evening, staying in a hotel and meeting the group Sunday morning to ride to Indy. Then I'll be heading home, of all weeks out of the year, next week is the week I HAVE to be at work  :'(  Or else I'd ride on through to Ohio too.

I got your phone number in the PM, will definitely get ahold of you this weekend.

Cool.  I realize time is a flexible thing in these matters, but any kind of ballpark idea?

NW Indiana has the #1 micro brewery (apparently in the world right now).  Three Floyds (http://www.3floyds.com/) is a really wild place if anyone wants a beer about 45 minutes after Portillo's (Saturday).  They also have excellent food.  The beers are beyond compare but I hesitate to recommend more than 1 or 2 if you'll be riding.

I rode missouri today, anyone that could have come and didn't, too bad for you. It was great. Any one that gets the chance should ride 94. It's now named Godzilla's spine. With Gee Zee's permission of course. He roared the entire way and his piston never stopped spinning. I want to thank the Kansas guys for riding along monday, it made our day,  Pinhead and Eyedugster made our day. The magazine meeting was very cool and meeting the guys was the best part.

When you find a cherry F1 with low miles what should you do with it? That's right, ride it like you stole it. It turned over 10,000 miles doing 80 at 5400 RPM almost 10% of the miles on it happened this week and it's only wednsday. It has no fuel reserve now and may need a new clutch tomorrow.

Now, Why is everyone raining on my parade? Poision food at portillo's? Rain forecast for a week away? They said it was going to rain everywhere I went today. I got lucky and followed it, wet roads and spray from trucks, sand blasted in construction zones and sprayed with fertilizer. It was worth it I'd do it again and will.  Now have fun and ride or Godzilla may come to see you!

I had hand surgery over the winter and  after 3 days riding my hands looks like they belong to Mickey Mouse. See you saturday.

Let me know who can recieve the banner, log book and Gee Zee. I diverted the tour to Chicago when it wasn't even on the schedule because I was sure you guys would ride and I wanted to meet you. So let me know the who, the where and the when. Does my ride plan still work for anyone? Sorry if I sound grouchy, I just rode 450 miles and I'm tired.

Ask not what Godzilla can do for you, ask what you.........

Wish I couldve made it. 94 rocks...Complications at work suck. Glad you enjoyed the ride.

I am a fan of 3 Floyds. I know that their annual Dark Lord Festival was a couple weeks ago. I would have no problem cruising over there Saturday evening for a couple beers (and I am right there with you on only a couple).

As far as Sunday goes we can coordinate tomorrow. I live just north of the Chicago border near the lake and Skonnie Boy is on the NW side, so St. Charles is a solid hour ride. Tentatively I would meet him at say Foster and Lake Shore Drive and then take the drive south and just stay on Rt 41, which I know takes us right past you, and also takes us most of the way to Indy.

Blue Beetle, I will PM you with a couple hotel options.

Any good brew pubs in Indy? I love to try local beers.

One of my very favorites is Upland Brewery (actually based out of Bloomington, IN), but they have a "tasting room" on College Ave in the Broadripple Area (Indy)....not so much a pub/bar, but more like a coffee house that sells beer instead of coffee.  The Upland Wheat is awesome....highly recommend!

I'm not sure what to do about the weather except hope the forecast is wrong. saturday, I planned to leave Galesburg at 8 am ride north to I80/il84 about 8:45 to 8:50 Cordova dragway at 9. And Dixon at the truck stop near the I88 exit around 10. From there I want to ride north on il 2 through the park, get some pictures and see the big chief blackhawk statue. On past Byron dragway, back to Rochelle and east on lincoln highway 38 to St Charles. I'm not sure on the exact time to ride the second half but I'll guess a couple hours. ??I'll also post my phone # again. Some riders in KS just headed out on our route and met up along the way.  Don, 309 299 5362

All that being said I'm sure most won't want to ride in the rain so the ? is, at what point do I pull the plug and just head somewhere directly for a hand-off. I got a new rain suit to test and my bike has been on rain soaked roads so it's been wet once in this decade already.

Don, I will be meeting you in Dixon. I posted a map the other day. What I would do is stay on Rt 2 north to Rt 64, then head east to St. Charles. The Portillo's is on Rt 64 (Main St in St. Charles).

Rain or shine I'm there. I have rain pants and water proof riding boots and I will be swinging past a buddy's today to pick up a reain shell to go with it.

well #$%*...

with all the stuff going on in Japan and Honda's production near a standstill, the powers that be decided to do their shutdown maintenance early. It usually goes on  a week +/- the 4th of July holiday.

Any way to the point I just got the call, I'll be leaving Monday 5/16 and won't be back till around 6/3.

still on for the show sat and or something on sun.

Boy,  seems everyones hell bent for riding in the rain... :-\ I thought we were ahead of schedule a bit and it was planned with leeway for rain delays? Look's like its going to be super #$%*ty and very unstable atmosphere til Mon for everyone on the route til at least Indy.
