On the road at last
« on: December 13, 2010, 07:50:40 PM »
Hello All,

After just a few years, some elbow grease and $, my toy was finally registered last week. It still needs some tweaking to get it just right, but the feeling of blasting of on that first ride around town was just great. Some pics are attached.

Many thanks to the forum members who have assisted me over the past couple of years I have been a member. I'm sure we will be asking for, and sharing, useful advice and tales of things which did not go as expected for years to come.

Best wishes to you all for a safe and happy Christmas, and a great 2011. Unfortunately many of you have to store your bikes at this time because of the weather. In my part of the world, Central Queensland Australia, its just plain hot & humid - alright whilst riding but you start wasting away in your riding gear as soon as you are stationary!

Cheers,

Justin

Sweet job on that 400 Justin!! I always loved the look of those dreamy, wavie 400 pipes!!
Can I have a motorcycle when I get old enough?
If you take care of it.
What do you have to do?
Lot’s of things. You’ve been watching me.
Will you show me all of them?
Sure.
Is it hard?
Not if you have the right attitudes. It’s having the right attitudes that’s hard.

Nice work Ocker, weather here in NZ is really nice right now, not too hot and the nights are cool for sleeping.
I think the thing I most like about motorcycling is the speed at which my brain must process information at to avoid the numb skulls who are eating pies, playing the ukulele, applying make-up etc in the comfort of their airconditioned armchairs as they make random attempts to kill me!!!!!!!

Great looking rebuild!!!  Congratulations.

We are due to get a foot of snow here in Brooklyn, looks like I really will have to give up the riding for a few days....

Enjoy the weather and the riding. Be safe.

Thanks all for your kind comments.

Tree - the boxes behind held 2 engine cases and the remains of one engine, a couple of fenders (one of which was for this model, and a lot of loose nuts, bolts, foreign brake parts - most of which I'v kept in case of future need.

As for the weather - since I mentioned it we have had nothing but rain - Rockvegas looks like being cut off in the next few days as a result of widespread rain through the Fitzroy river catchment (2nd largest in Oz) as well as the local falls. Have had to content myself with checking the torque setings of all the vital bits after 40ks of town riding, plus the food and drinks that surround the christmas period of course!!

Hope all you blokes in the blizzards are ok - I think I would prefer the rain!
