You serious? Well what is the smallest disc that I can safely use on a motorcycle?

that depends on the weight of the bike, the front tire, the brake pad material, how fast you ride, all sorts of good stuff to figure on.

Well what is the smallest disc that I can safely use on a motorcycle?

Depends on your personal version of "safe", IMO.

Got a buddy who feels perfectly safe with his spool front hub and drum brake rear. Got another who thinks I'm nuts for riding a CB500 with only a single disk in front.

And my wife doesn't believe any motorcycle is safe.

Again IMO, modern "safe" stopping takes two big front disks. Anything less is, well, less. Just depends on how "unsafe" you're willing to live with. For me, that's a single front disk or a BIG front drum.

If I was looking to build a chop like the one in your pic, I'd skip the front brake altogether and run a spool. At least then I wouldn't be able to pretend that I could get results with anything but the brake pedal.   ;)

Forgive my ignorance, but what is a spool?

God help me, but I really "dig" the seventies style Honda chop. Rigid, 10" over front end, spool hub, drag pipes, the works. Doesn't go, doesn't stop, and Lord help you if you try to go around a corner, but still...

Go to http://www.hondachopper.com/choppers102.html for a look, including some spool front hubs. I don't think I'd ever be silly enough to own a bike like this, but then again, maybe I would.

Have a look at some of the new Chinese made scooters/mopeds. You could probably find what your looking for.Either buy everything new (still pretty cheap) or find out which Hond/Suzuki/Yamaha its a copy of and get one from junk yard. (or just look at MX bike rear rotors/calipers). RM80 is pretty small brake on the front, will look even smaller with 21"wheel.

My buddy had one of those 70+ MPH go-karts, and that brake looks exactly like what
he had on there.

I am in the mindset as more brake the better, thus the dual-disc setup soon to be on my scoot.
I am all about ripping un-needed stuff off a bike, but Sometimes function overpowers the form side of it...
