Small Brake issue
« on: December 28, 2010, 02:47:03 PM »
on a 750 K4 brake and a few questions, the taller brake pad is not fitting right and dropping in the indentation inside the Caliper! Any remedies?
Also, can you explain what the screw is for on the pad?
And is Dot3 fluid used for cars okay?
Can't see the o-ring

I guess the o-ring is behind the cylinder. But mine is frozen solid such that it does not come out with hand. Any suggestions there?

afaik there should be a caliper seal in there.  You're saying the piston is froze in there?  Some guys here have recommended a grease gun or air pressure...

Lol...It out.
Covered one hole with my thumb. Put the air compressor blower tip inside the other. POP ;)

Just that no one told me to not point it at my neighbors car. ;D
Off to polishing

Alright so the other questions about:
Pad not fitting right
What the screw on top of the pad is for and
Is DOT3 for cars okay

Thanks

here's a typical caliper.  It may help you see where the stuff goes...

A picture of the pad might help. The screw may be a locator to keep the pad from turning.

Camera with no battery. But now that you mention it, yes it might be a locator.

Thanks fm

I have had new pads that the braking material was manufactured a little to big and the outside edges needed to be sanded down/grinded a little bit to get the correct fitment.
