Can anyone identify this white stuff in my workshop?
« on: December 27, 2010, 07:12:01 AM »
Well, I guess I have to now admit that winter is here, and my time of wrenching on the street is over!  So sad.

I was feeling good about the 35 degree days when i would still go outside for a few hours, to tinker with things on the CB550, but today it seems that all ends for a while....

this is a shot of my "workshop."

WOW!! What happened?  Did Donald Trump's coke bag rupture?  ;D
Can I have a motorcycle when I get old enough?
If you take care of it.
What do you have to do?
Lot’s of things. You’ve been watching me.
Will you show me all of them?
Sure.
Is it hard?
Not if you have the right attitudes. It’s having the right attitudes that’s hard.

Believe me, I've thought about it.  I think i am going to get it into the backyard, and do my work in the basement.  Maybe build a lean-to or something...

The basement is where my two bikes live in the winter. I've done my fair share of outdoor, winter time wrenching and I'm done with all that. Busted knuckles are one thing but cold busted knuckles are another.

Unfortunately, I could never get the bike down there - unless I took the whole thing apart.  Even then it would be a struggle.  So the majority will have to stay up in the yard, and the parts I am looking to work on (forks, wheels, etc) will have to come down.

Didn't really have much of a choice, but thank You. Wish I could afford an indoor work space, but locally, the cost is prohibitive. I should be alright, as long as my cover can withstand the wind!

This should be a sign to grab as many SOHC's as you can and move to DFW, Texas!  Selling those SOHC's down here should give you a good start and we need some!  :)
I don't have a motorcycle, sold it ('85 Yamaha Venture Royale).  Haven't had a CB750 for over 40 years.

No :). I was lucky enough to get it up against the building before the storm hit.

Homes are MUCH cheaper down here too.  Take a look online, you can get a whole lot for you hard earned money.  But don't forget the SOHC's.  ;)

If recording records was as popular there as it is here, I'd seriously consider it. I find my way down there from time to time on tour, and always love it. Always jealous of the weather and riding season. The idea of moving the studio is WAY too daunting!

I never heard that, but whatever they used wasn't 8.5' long, weighing over 500lbs.  And that's just the console, let alone the tape machines, intstruments, microphones, .....

And then there is floating every floor, wall and ceiling in any space I would be moving to.

Not in the near future at least.

I know I might be able to actually afford to eat. Right now my bikes eat better than I do.
Unfortunately there aren't a whole lot of SOHC's over my way. They're kind of hard to come by.
AZ and New Mexico is where we need to be looking. I would say the midwest too like Wisconsin and such but that's just a little too far out of the way.

No, I got it up close to the building.  It had a bit on top of the cover, but knocked it off in one swing.
