Team South - AL, AR, KY, LA, MS, TN
« on: December 28, 2010, 03:14:53 PM »
Hey gang, We need some riders.  Right now it looks like 2 or 3 from AL, 2 from TN, I maybe from MS.  I'll coordinate entry and exit points for the region first, then we'll set up individual routes to cover the area.  If you know anyone from any of our states, call, write and get  them involved.  My cell # is 205-243-4354.

Where are all you guy's? Inquiring minds want to get an idea of where a possible hand-off from AR to OK might be...

John.... I'm  # 15 on the list. My goal would be to ride from Nashville to Cherokee NC and meet-up with the NC riders ( Nikkisix etc. ) and do some of the Blue Ridge with those guys, back to Nashville  ( via KY ? ) and on down to B'ham and you guys. I think one or two of the NC guys might make it as far as Nashville, if so I will 'host' them @ my house for a night.
Can we figure out a definite route for NC, KY and TN ?........

Spanner, that's a lot of riding, man.  If you want to, I'll run up to Franklin and spend the night with my kid, then come down to LA (lower Alabama) and pass off to KPier, who can get it to Pidaster.  After that, we need people.

Wow Spanner. Looks like we'll have to create a new rider category for the Rally. The 2011 SOHC4 World Tour Iron Ass Highest Mileage Award or something similar. Maybe even use the winner's name in it each successive year ie The 2012 Spanner Iron Ass Award.  ;) Achievement in excellence should be recognized!  8)

A lot of riding ?.... nonsense  ;D...... I'm talking 4 or 5 days y'all..... However my workload is piling-up already for the nearish future and probably couldn't afford the time anyway  :(... If I could I'd do the whole friggin' thing, at least to CA  8) ;D

Depending on dates ( I have a pretty flexible work schedule ) I will ride with anyone coming through Middle Tennessee or the surrounding area. I will not be on a SOHC but can provide some company on the road with my "modern" bike. I could easily make the run down to Birmingham if that is the way things are headed or Memphis/Arkansas if things travel that way.

I can't ride. I don't have any time off from work and I'll be going out of town for a week or so as well. I'd love to do it though.

Hi,

update on my 74 350fI got a key set and got the seat opened, drained the carbs, put in new gas and installed a battery but I couldn't get the bike started.  It turns over easily and has spark on one side.  I plan to take it to my mechanic since I am not that good with mechanical stuff.  I don't know if it will be ready to ride in late March.

I wouldn't mind carrying the mascot as long as I can ride one of my other bikes (Kawi 650 ninja or Kawi Nomad)..  ;) and my schedule allows it.

I will try to keep track of what is going on.  I imagine that I could ride from the OK border (near where I live) to memphis if I needed to.

Hey guys - looking at the original map, I've been planning on riding from Nashville down to Birmingham, over to Jackson MS to Shreveport LA then up to Little Rock (and back to Nashville through Memphis). 5-6 days at 2-300 miles/day. However that can change according to what we need.. if I need to head up to KY somewhere I could, but sounds like you've got that part Spanner1? Either way, I plan on doing 5-6 days' worth of ridin'. This is assuming that my new motor is installed and tested before this whole shebang kicks off...

Even if we (I) do the route I'm thinking of we'd still need someone to meet up in Little Rock or Texarkana or Hope to get "IT" through Oklahoma and down to Tejas.
If it's worth doing, it's worth doing twice.

Scottly, cross your fingers that Coke gets his bike ready.
Tugboat, that sounds great, I'll ride some of the way with you.  We may have to run a little south of B'ham, I think Kpier wants to get in on a leg.  NikkiSix may bring it in from WVA through KY and into TN.

If any of you guys know any members in KY, LA, or AR, let me know and I'll PM them.

We're getting closer, but right now it's looking like a four or five man effort for 6 states.

Yes it wouldn't be any problem for me to go the other way to OK City. instead of Memphis.  could pick IT up in LR or something.   taking the bike to mechanic next week... we shall see.

Goofaroo is in OK City and has said he'd ride 100 miles either way. That would make a fantastic connection with you 2 guys. It's looking like we can make it to the Pacific Ocean boys!!  ;D WooHoooooooo  :D

What's your weak links? I'm guessing KY perhaps?

Can you guys do The Barber Museum?

Yeah, KY it's looking like, though NikiSixx might be coming through there from NC?

I'd also like to point out that my riding is going to be conditional on my ankle being up to snuff. I broke it last October playing softball and just got out of the "boot" last week. Hopefully it will be healed enough by then!

@Coke - that would be great if you could cover the AR --> OK stint. I'm actually from Shreveport originally, which is why I'd kinda wanted to go all the way across the top of LA and then up to AR. But we could head north pretty much anywhere, so whatever works. Glad you're into that though!

I've volunteered at Barber's before.  I'm going to contact them and try to arrange some publicity, definitely planning a hand off with pictures at the museum.  I'm going to push for a pic in front of the sandcast CB750.  Let you know more as we get along.

Hello!  I live in Tulsa OK. I really like the idea of a CB rallye. Could make part of the ride thru OK or AR or help the riders out with a room or help. My K7 is ready to go.

I'm a new member and in AR. I'm up by the U of A. I have a few friends with old Honda's that would be down to ride too. I'm going to LR this weekend to pick up an 81 cb750k for a buddy. Maybe we can get it going in time for the ride too. When is this gonna happen, and what is the set course (if there is one)?

I'm down.

I think me and the cafe can make it successfully.
Cafe Racing is mainly a matter of taste. It is an atavistic mentality, a peculiar mix of low style, high speed, pure dumbness, and overweening commitment to the Cafe Life and all its dangerous pleasures. I am a Cafe Racer myself, on some days - and it is one of my finest addictions. ~H. S. Thompson~
