Check out these cute critters
« on: December 29, 2010, 02:14:57 AM »
My partner and I had just got out of the spa pool tonight and we heard this "peep" "peep" noise, next minute a mother Hedge Hog came scuttling out from behind our shed with 5 little babies in single file behinde her.
She seems like a good little mother, she checked us both out then satisfied that we could be relied on to babysit her brood she shot off (man can these things run) and went looking for food.
I sneaked inside and locked our fox terrier up (cos he chases anything and baby hedge pigs would be fair game for him but he wouldn't know what to do with them even if he caught one) and grabbed our camera.
They were very tame, let us pick them up with no fuss, guess they aren't wise to the big bad world yet.
I'm going to contact the SPCA tomorrow and find out where a better place to release them would be, they can't say in this neighbourhood as the locals would probably eat them. ;D
I think the thing I most like about motorcycling is the speed at which my brain must process information at to avoid the numb skulls who are eating pies, playing the ukulele, applying make-up etc in the comfort of their airconditioned armchairs as they make random attempts to kill me!!!!!!!

we do fox terrier rescue.  imagine a fox terrier causing trouble!  The last thing he caught was my wife's roomba.  Must look just like a hedge hog.

That's pretty cool.  They make great pets though they are not common here in the U.S.  We have a possum that comes a few times a week for supper.  Minnesota is a bit out of their normal range so we figure it needs a bit of help and it seems quite unafraid while it waits for us to bring out the food dish.  A feral cat, Grey Kitty is back for the third winter now and comes every night at 6 pm.  We only see this cat in the winter.

thanks for that srust, next years christmas dinner is looking fine!about 93 i used to work at remote mines in queensland, you cant help hitting roos, even already dead ones, and rule number one in heavy trucks with bull bars is dont swerve,in cars protect the radiator by smacking either the left or right headlight, anyway, anytime the trucks drove back into town and into the yard ,the  guard dog comes out and licks the mud flaps clean, air dried and sunbaked road kill, probably like some kind of mobile jerky?

a roomba is an automatic vacuum that moves around the room and even recharges automatiically.
