So interesting fact... bike runs even better than last video... after i saw that one of the wires to the right side coils wasn't pulled in .. hahahahaa imagine that eh?

Got an oil leak from the oil pan it looks like. And still need to fix an exhaust leak at the header. I'll try to do that when weld up the inner baffle and modify the header to fit the reverse cone this week.

Video from this morning.

Sounds good. My buddy had the same set up, engine and front end on his 550. It will definitely feel different when riding.

Hey Cam,

With her new heart transplant complete, Olivia has been re-nominated for BOTM April 2017.  Please post an "acceptance" in the nomination thread and (when you get a spare minute) post some completed bike photos!

Congrats, well deserved!

Also those are some looooong springs! I couldn't find it in the thread, but I'm assuming they are custom?
If you can't fix it with a hammer, it's an electrical problem... If it's an electrical problem, it's Cal's problem.

Great work, glad that you have reached a pause point in her maturity and step ahead for the styling and performance.
Best of luck with the BOTM nomination!

My 1978 once upon a time CB550.

Now with a 1980 CB650 motor with 1978 CB750 carbs. Remote oil cooler kit. 2006 CBR600RR forks. Cb550 19" front wheel. CB550 rear hub laced to a 18x5.50 wrapped in a Metzeler 180/55/18. Fabricated swing arm to except the additional girth. Rear frame cut out and modified with all the electrical in a under seat tray. Fibreglass cowl hides a Anitgraviti battery, seat has a 1" memory foam wrapped and stitched in brown leather with her name "Olivia" embroidered.
Left the natural patina paint on the tank and stripped paint off the motor. She's no trailer queen. No pampered princess. lol
Acewell gauge upfront. LED headlamp, CBR600RR front master cylinder CB650 controls. Slimmed down and simplified is her game except her fat a$$. I like big butts!

She's never perfect. Never done, but %100 bad a$$ and all mine and sooo much fun to ride.

Funny you say that.. that was actually my goal. If Honda remade the cb550 with technology they use now in their bikes but keeping it looking classic.

This bike inspired many modern front end swaps.  Prior to Cognitomoto making turnkey solutions, fitting up a spoked wheel into a modern front required some additional mental floss.  At the time, Cam caught a little bit of grief (that won't work/you can't do that) when he decided to run a larger, modern size rear tire, to which he basically responded, 'Watch me."

To save me reading through it all again. Can you tell me the deatils about the rear wheel and swingarm.  I am starting another build and want to fit a wider tyre.

Thank you! And funny thing is.. i still get hate mail and negitive comments. Once even a death threat. Lol
Its a bike.. why does it respond such controversial heat? Hahaha. To think, if I actually listened to the hate, this bike, that was in my head for years. Wouldn't have ever come to life.

Not really a lot to tell.. i made a new swing arm widened enough to fit the fatter wheel 1 1/2" longer than stock. Which is a cb550 rear hub. Laced with thicker stainless spokes and nipples to a 18x5.50 rim, running a 180/55/18. 3/8 Off set drive sproket and a machined offset rear sprocket carrier.
