HMM? So looks like I haven't updated in some time... then again, no one has asked for one either.... knock knock... anyone out there? HAHAHAHA kidding..

well. not a lot to update. been busy with other bikes and well, the real job too..

but there is some since the last post in this thread.
I made shock mounts a few months back.. though I'm not happy with, so might rip them off and do them again.

try to upload photos in a sec..

so... one night my friend Nathaniel came over... (he's building a cb360 cafe in my garage).... I was to start my hand at shaping the mold for the new seat and tail.... and then we got really drunk... and well.... lets just say, I need to start over on the foam and shaping.. HAHAHAHAHAHA

wrenching wasn't going so well... and our beer opener got left in the house.. neither one of us wanted to walk 30ft back and get it...

So we made a new bench top beer opener.. and gave that a test run.. Nathaniel is our test pilot... face shield and all..

Only progress I have is that I had to make a jump wire to bypass some screwed up wiring, and I rode it a couple times last week?

I really liked your video!
Very interesting piece of music.
Where did that music come from? What state?

made new rear set mounts and installed a nice set from "fast from the past"

So how much custom work went into these? I really want to get a set for my 550 but none seem to be direct bolt ons.

DanielB,
I had to fab my mounts because the original frame pieces for the bolt on rear set kit, no longer exsist on my bike. I had cut all that area out.
I did however save the original passenger peg mounts and used them to make new mounts for the rear sets. I thought I had photos of the fab work done. But I can't find them. Maybe next time I'm out in the shop and remember, I'll snap a pic or two.

that been said.. I'm not %100 sure Fast from the Past has bolt on kits for Cb550's.... or if I saw them somewhere else? it's been a long time since I last looked at their web site...

I wish someone made a direct bolt on kit, I can't find one....and I don't know how to weld. haha

AH man! this site sucks for uploading photos!! LOL
I also keep forgetting to update this thread.. some day I'll be better at it..

So I little bit here and there has been going on.. I bought a set of 2006 CBR600RR forks. Put them on the CB550.. Direct fit. As I see it this far. I don't need a bearing kit from allsballsracing.com I used the hard wear and bearings from the 550 on the 600 steer tube. and ALL fits like a glove and thus far, no issues.

This weekend I will be meeting up with a fellow that has brakes, lines, pads, axle, discs and top tree.. SO I hope have the rest of that put together soon.. and then make the adapter plate for the hub-disc-axle..

I also made an attempt at fiber glassing my own seat. Made a seat from florist foam and bondo. Made the mold from that. and last night I layed in glass for a seat from the mold. The Mold didn't survive, I had to break it to get the seat out. Mold Lock!! =(
But the new seat is good.. this weekend I will be cleaning it, trimming, sanding and preping for paint. AKA-Spray bomb for now.

I have photos. But this site doesn't like me.. So, if you like, photos of the work thus far, they are at rustyolive.com
Sorry.. LOL
