Haha.well.. close to tuning. But yes. She's getting work done. Carbs are coming out again. The rubber intake boots are leaking. Got new ones coming soon. Hopefully that'll seal up the leaks.

Which year 650 engine are you using and which carburetors?

So a few days ago I loaded up the bike and took it to my buddies at Flying Squirrel Motorcycles here in Toronto.
I needed another set of eyes on it, after many failed attempts to get her to fire on all four and idle.

It appears my carbs need even more attention than just new gaskets and o-rings and such. And new rubber intake boots. Possibly a clogged fuel rail and float bowl breather holes.

Friend of a friend lent us his sonic tank. So today I'm heading back to Flying Squirrel to take the carbs out again. Tear them down and dunk them.

Not much of an update I know. But baby steps. In the right direction I hope. Lol

Great to hear you are on your way to getting Olivia back on the road.

In the photo (on the lift), it looks like you might be getting chain rub on the top of the swingarm (there is what looks like wear on the paint where the chain passes over).  It could be grease or a trick of the eye.

No. There's no rubbing going on.

Makes sense.  On second look, the "marks" also go down the front of the swingarm so I it looks more like chain grease.

No, Cam. I was referring to the inner left diagonal tube portion of the swingarm, where it narrows to the mount width.  There's some greyish discoloration that I first thought might be wear marks.

I cropped you photo (attached).  See the grey portion right under the chain.

Reassembling the carbs today.

Somehow I over looked the difference in spring lenght on the fuel mixture screws. Has anyone seen this before? Anyone know which carb it goes in? Or is this a mistake? I have an old set of cb650 carbs.. perhaps I can swap the springs out if they should all be the same lenght.

I took a quick peak online and any rebuild kit I found for a 1978 CB750 carb uses the same spring and screw for each carb.

Already been looking at parts list. Considering the spring is listed as one part number and rebuild kits that include that spring are part numbered per typical. I would say the short spring is someone's previous attempt to improvise. But also curious if anyone else had two cents on this.

Pulled out the springs in an old set of cb650 carbs. All four of the springs are the same lenght as the long ones in this set. So I stole a spring and replaced the short one. Carbs are done and ready to go in. Hopefully tomorrow or Wednesday. Crossing fingers. Lol
