750's engine case screw sizes -- listed--
« on: January 03, 2011, 02:53:42 PM »
Has anyone documented the philips screw sizes for the engine case on a 750?  I reallize that there are many places to purchase complete engine screw kits.  I could measure each bolt but I thought someone must have done this already and made it available.

Just figured out that they are M6 X 1.0, the bolt that holds the speedo into the head is M5 X 0.8 X 25mm.  I just picked up a bunch of allen head stainless bolts, I will post the results tomorrow with the measurements.

Started to get the hardware installed on the engine, so far so good.  The stainless bolts look pretty sweet on the black engine!

bump this. I'm interested in all the sizes so I could build my own allen head kit without having to actually bust out a measuring tape or look real hard at a diagram.

Here's (part of) a spreadsheet I use to check my "inventory" when I replate/replace fasteners on my sandcasts.  This is only the phillips head screws.  Use it if you can and at your own risk.  It might be slightly different for later 750's.  I hope it helps.

So heres my list, its not as fancy as markb's but it works.  It fits my 78 750 F3 but it shows that it will also work on a K3 K4 K5 any other models it may fit but Im not too sure of.  Some of the bolt sizes have been shortened... eg, I wasnt able to buy a 36mm long bolt so I got a 35mm long bolt.  It works for me but I just want people to know this so enjoy at your own risk.

All Bolts listed are M6X1.0 unless otherwise stated, the numbers listed are for length.

Valve Cover ( I did not include the bolts under the top cover )
4- 40mm
1- 50mm
2- 75mm
10- 60mm
Speedo screw M5X.08X25mm

Transmission Cover
2- 30mm
2- 35mm
3- 40mm
2- 50mm
2- 55mm

Generator Cover
3- 20mm
7- 30mm
1- 35mm

Clutch Cover
7- 25mm
3- 35mm

Hope that helps out, as I replace more I will re post.
