Here's some relatively breaking news for the Guys in CT.

As I was going around to Two Wheel Mecca last Thursday to go hunting for some spares I encountered a bunch of big guys hauling everything out of the warehouse and dumping it onto the pavement. Yup. They've been evicted and they don't know where they will end up. And somewhere in that mess was a good primary chain waiting for me that had just been stripped out for me the day before. Keep a eye open for auctions. ha ha.

Bummer.

Yes..... There were 2 400F engines that I was slowly cannibalizing. Was planning on getting all the covers and some of the internals eventually.

Hi Guys!

Anyone know of a auti electric supplier that sells connector blocks and terminals similar to the original hitatchi items in Cape Town? Or anywhere in South Africa for that matter.

I could not find any, so ordered some relatively good ones for cheap from dx.com. haven't actually crimped any on yet, but they look like they could do the trick. No rubber cover though

Ok thanks Charl. I'll trawl through there. I'm chasing a few leads here in CT. Will update this group if I find anything.

Hi all , i live in Durbanville and have restored a K4 and a CBX now busy with a basket case 750 A. Prices are crazy and sa post office cannot be relied on. Costs as much to ship UPS as the actual parts.

Cheers
Derek

Greetings and salutations!  The cb750A was scarce here in SA. I saw a green one once in the flesh when Bike Parts was at the top of Long street (Cape Town) behind the Turkish Baths. I'm talking mid-1980's.

I have a large collection of cb750 spares for sale but I don't know if any of it is suitable for an A.

There is some compatibility with the F series and on the k series chassis parts. This bike a 76 and the design is not pretty like the F series drainpipe exhaust and the electrical system is chaotic. The 77 a with 4 into 2 much more pleasing to the eye. Problem is how close do i want to rebuild to original , just takes money and time is not a problem because i am on pension. I will keep in touch and mail you should i need something and we can do a deal ?
Cheers , Derek

HI
"Rust-free" means anywhere inland. I would look online in www.junkmail.co.za or www.bidorbuy.co.za or you could try www.autotrader.co.za

BTW, those URLs are fro memory so you may have to experiment a bit if they don't work immediately.

regards
Thomas

Hi Guys.

I found a place in Brackenfell that sells un-insulated spade connectors and terminal blocks basically identical to the Hitachi items. These guys also sell Deutsch connector blocks if you want to spruce up your looms!

http://www.sparxx.co.za/ the website isn't great but at least they're trying.

On another note I'm about to start powdercoating parts for my 400F. Anybody have recommendations for good powdercoaters in the Southern Suburbs and Paarden Island area? I'm thinking of going with Quality Coatings because they use Powder Lak products. Just looking for some personal experiences here.

Thanks.

Have a good one.

Jacques.

I have always painted the frame looks more realistic to me but with the hondamatic i reckon powder coat is a good option. Do you have to plug all the holes before you give it to the powder coaters ?

Hi Hondamad,
Im getting side covers, hubs and my Rims powder coated for now. As far as I know the guys I'm taking it to will plug it up. But I'm prob going to be plugging it up just to be sure. Might also just paint the frame or get the bare metal clear coated.(haven't decided what route to take there) Just for interest sake what paint t you use when painting the frames?  My 400 isn't a restoration so not to bothered with Authenticity. I will leave the frame and tabs stock though in case one day I have enough money to actually restore it. Here's my build thread.

I use twin pack paint. Gloss from the gun and drys hard. Best to wait for a warm day unless you want to use a fast accelereter so it sets up fast. I had my downpipes ceramic coated amasing and not expensive.

OOH Ceramics. I've been in contact with PowerKote. I think it's very reasonable considering the advantages of ceramic coating. I'm just scared that I might want to start coating everything then.

Bought this a while back for a song. Just going to make it pretty and sell it off again. Hopefully to someone with restoration in mind. It's pretty much stock still.
