I've been searching Texas for a decent CB750 at a decent price for months now. Every now and then, I'd pick up parts here and there.
Picked up a bunch parts/frames, and motors (2) over the holiday and now I have enough good parts to make a start.
Plan on making somewhat of a cafe bike. Still need to find a Suzuki GT750 front drum - going a bit beefier vs the one I have on my 72.
Going to attempt all the metal work myself with some guidance from my old man (he taught silversmithing/jewelry/sculpture for 30 years) and a buddy of mine.
Got a super cheap planishing hammer at Northern Tools (we'll see if it's worth a crap) it should last long enough to make a tank, tail section and oil tank.
Plan on stretching a stock tank (always like the lines on them) and hopefully incorporating a double-walled insulated oil tank within or under the stretched portion.
Wish I had a Tig, but the little MIG is going to have to do - I'm getting better at making reasonably good-looking welds with it...practice.
I'm even going to try and make my own exhaust. I plan on using stock headers and hopefully adding some megaphones very similar to what Benji uses on
his bad-ass Trixie bike. Cone Engineering - http://www.coneeng.com/ has a great site with megaphones, baffles etc. This should be an adventure for sure.
Still have some bugs to work out in my mind - handlebar controls - internal throttle...we'll see.
Anyway, since everybody here likes photos - here's a photochop of what I want to do & a pic of my '72.
Stay tuned - the fun begins this weekend. And get ready for the slew of questions I'll be asking.

Any suggestions are greatly encouraged.
