1972 cb350f center stand
« on: January 04, 2011, 03:07:39 PM »
Hello All,

I've lost the hook to my main stand and apparently you can't get them anywhere. I have a bigger problem though - I can't figure out how the hook attaches to the frame and spring etc. Does anyone have a clear photo of a 350f main stand that is together?

Thanks a ton.

Hi
Suggest you download the parts manual although all the models are just about the same.
The hook attaches to a frame, spring to the hook and spring to center stand.
It could be the frame attachment has snapped off. I'm sure a 400 or 500 hook would fit.

Hope this helps.

Thanks guys. T_Revs, does the hook just slide over the metal loop / hook type piece on the frame? How does it stay on - just the pressure from the spring being at an angle?

Hi J
Yes that's right, the tension of the spring keeps it on. So when you come to fit it, there will be stretching needed on the spring to fit it to the center stand, sometimes not an easy job depending on how tight the spring is so be careful of your fingers.
The way I have always done it is fit the hook on the frame, fit the spring to the hook (making sure the loop on the end of the spring is at the correct angle to fit over the center stand retainng bit, have someone hold the bike over a bit on the offside, push the center stand up so there will be least tension on the spring, slide a screwdriver on the spring end loop and on the center stand retainng bit and then force the spring end loop over the retaining bit.
Hope this helps
