now its victoria and nsw turn,floods there aswell,ten looters have been arrested in brisbane,SCUM.one tried to escape by swimming away and had to be revived,total waste of oxygen.

I saw on the news tonight that the maximum penalty for for looting has been increased to 10 years.

I guess the looters are lucky that I'm not the boss because they'd get a mandatory 10 years, no questions asked.

They're the scum of the earth.

Their guts is lower than a snakes and they sneak around like cockroaches when the lights go out.

And I'll donate the condoms, so that while they're on the inside looking out, their visit will be a memorable one.

This show will get back on the road with all of the good people that are going to make it happen.

Then there's the infrastructure of the whole State to consider. Have a look at what the water did to the coal train rails in North Queensland.

That whole stretch of railbed has to be redone, and the whole line needs to be checked. It is a huge job and coal will not be flowing out of those mines for a long while.

Community Spirit Comes to the Fore:

Okay, I've had my own agenda helping out my nephew who has lost everything except his laptop, car & most of his clothes. A group of his friends has gathered to bring his house back from the brink, with completely stripping the innards of the house & washing it down, inside & out.

What is absolutely amazing is the number of people simply touring the devastation with buckets of drinks, trays of food & offers of assistance. There are nominated gathering points for volunteers to board buses & be dropped off all through the affected suburbs to lend a hand in the clean up. At one pickup point today, the line of volunteers stretched for over a kilometer. All armed with brooms, shovels & whatever to help complete strangers out of their dilemma.

It has restored my faith in fellow man. Well done Queenslanders.

Now the spread of the floods has spread even further with the Southern States now experiencing similar devastation. It's going to be years before we recover from this.

The same thing happened here in NY. Society women and mean came down and were making sandwichs and washing out the eyes of rescue/recovery crews. People are at there best and worst in times of trouble.

Hi All,

I thought I would add an sohc inspired post. I was stuck away from my Brisbane home so could only watch the news as the waters rose almost to the ceiling of my little highset house.

The good news is that it is back up and running and I will use this forum extensively once I get to the rebuild part of my new 'project bike'.

Hey Peter,

Yeah the CB was fully submerged, my brother managed to move it to the 'high ground' of the deck, but this ended up 2m under water. The news on that particular day just kept getting worse, when he went round we were told that the water might just breach the floorboards so he just moved everything up on tables etc. By the time we knew the house was going under it was already too late and nobody could get in or out (so we knocked the top off a few cold ones and watched from the Gold Coast).

But I dropped it off at a local shop who did all the necessary ressurection work that I couldnt do as the shed was cactus as well. So she fires up and runs and so far only the indicators don't work, but everything is horribly dirty and needs alot of work.

It was a daily rider but I think I am ready to step up to a non-learners bike so the CB will become a project and I might buy a larger bike, the make and model will depend on whether insurance will cough up or not.

Accolay, we have a monster cyclone baring down on our coastline now and it has a massive amount of rain with it....Our weather has been pretty wild of late....

This one's a big nasty mongrol cyclone headed towards the eastern coast.
They're predicting a Category 4 when it hits and it's feeding itself from the monsoonal trough across the top of Aust.
The sky here in Darwin at the moment is relatively clear because of that.
I heard that there is going to be a mandatory evacuation over the next 24 to 36 hours.

It's been wet here but that big twisty's sucking the rain away.

While we're all waiting for the next big weather event here in Qld, I thought I'd tell you about my nephew's place. I spoke here earlier how his house was submerged to just short of the ceiling.

When he took out his mortgage, the mortgage company recommended he use this insurance company. He obliged & took out house & contents insurance. How much are they going to give him?

Nothing. Zip. Zilch. Zero.

That really sucks. We rescued his 2 fridges & washing machine off the junk pile before it was taken away. Cleaned 'em up, washed out the mud & let them dry out for over a week. Win win win. Both fridges & the washing machine work just fine. At least something good went his way.

Me & one of my mates got his leaf blower, whipper snipper & mower going again too. I've still got a lot of work to recover all his hand tools yet, some of them belonged to his grandfather, so I'm trying to make them rust free & shiny again.

I hope all those people up North don't get blown away in Yasi - the cyclone from hell it looks like.

This thing is a bloody monster.
It's expected to cross the coast in approx 12 hours time (About midnight)
At least people have been given time to prepare.
There will be an extensive amount of property damage.
Lets hope that no lives are lost.

Not nearly as destructive but the U.S. midsection is getting hammered by this. It just grazed us here in Minneapolis(red dot) on the northern edge with a few inches of snow.
