No recent communication from Iowa riders. Common guys, you're up to bat in less that two weeks. Gzilla is most likely coming down to north central Iowa from twin cities on Saturday Aug 6th. We need to coordinate the rendezvous.

I'll PM the Iowa guys.

Scrambler, can you help us out?

Isnt this how life is for me....

On August 6th, unless a miracle happens, I'll be preparing to head to NYC to do temporary duty for work... if I'm NOT redeployed to NYC for work, I'll be in Fort Dodge at my Air national Guard unit doing my monthly drill...

So, guys, I may not be able to help you.  I had been hoping it would be here BEFORE now, but it seems that my chance to help out never seems to happen.

Sorry... My fingers are crossed, but i'm not holding my breath.

Ok I heard from aaronrkelly and he can't make it either, so that leaves 2 possible Iowa riders. We might have to plan to go more in the direction of omaha. Are we good on Nebraska riders? Could any of you guys come out east to help Iowa get some zilla time?

Just heard back from Ben at Two Brothers Honda in Onalaska.  We're still welcome to stop by on Tuesday the 2nd.  Probably a good idea, to publicize the ride and make friends for future years.  It's right on the route north on Highway 35, the River Road.

Thanks db22 and vance for the communication to the board...........Iowa seems to be a problem with timing.  Vance..........if IT is in the twin cities from the 4th to the 6th, what is your estimated date to handoff in southwestern Minn or northern Iowa?

I'll PM some of the Nebraska, Dakota, and Manitoba riders for responses............

It's raining hear today but Michigan riders should be going north and maybe escape............Friday to Sunday is forecast to be sunny and hot...........I expect to be on schedule to make the handoff at the fuel cafe on the 1st.

We are looking for high-resolution (mega pixel) photos to submit for a possible MOTORCYCLE CLASSICS article when the ride is completed. Please forward your best shots to; dweinhold@gmail.com   Remember that each rider that carries the banner and the lizard should write up a short report (with compressed pics) and post it on the daily trip report page.

THE FOLLOWING WAS COPIED FROM THE MICHIGAN PAGE.  I thought we needed some inspiration and couldn't say it any better...............

Go Team!

Let me second that Emotion: right on Michigan. Go Team indeed! I consider no less than an honor and a privilege to be in some small way involved in the relay.

I spent a full day Saturday tuning up the Little Beast: Tires, chain, fluids, valve clearance, carbs synch'd, waxed, polished, new bullet fairing installed. He's a tired old thing, but always willing. I'm geeked up and ready to ride!!!

I was thinking about this the other day, that not only do we the riders benefit from meeting fellow riders around us, but the stock of fixed up, polished up and road worthy CB's has got to be at an abnormally high number right now!  Well, certainly a greater number than has Jerry's Maker's Mark binge lead to a stupor instead of getting inspired with such wild ideas as a cross country roaming gnome relay!

And I'm sure there are a number of parts supplies wondering WTF is going on with this sudden rush on CB parts!?!?

I would hope to move that Lizard onto Iowa soil on Sat the 6th, or Sun the 7th if there is problem with Saturday.

Out of our 4 Iowan team members 3 aren't going to be available that weekend. I haven't heard from the fourth yet. Maybe we should start checking in with the Nebraska riders and see if they can be ready to take delivery on one Godzilla. He can still terrorize parts of Iowa on his way to Omaha.

My problem is I can only ride on the weekend. If one of the other twin cities riders can take that leg on a weekday and that helps accomodate the Iowa guys then maybe that would be a better option.

I'll start PM some of the NE guys.

Canadian guys, I think Godzilla is headed back up to you via North Dakota so after MN, then IA, then NE, then SD and ND.

Scrambler, correct me if I'm wrong on that.

Vance..........that's the plan...........and if you can get it to someone in Iowa....maybe splitt or chester345 from Omaha can ride into Iowa to meet you............I like your effort and that's a long ride if its hot!

I was in Hutchison MN last week at a tractor show..........the cities look the same..........maybe the lizard should have a picture taken at the HAZARDOUS LOAD signs at the downtown tunnel on I-94

I don't know if any other Minnesota riders are going to meet the Wisconsin group but I could do it Tuesday 2nd or Wednesday 3rd. Would Stockholm work?  If the plan is to be in LaCrosse on Tuesday the timing looks good.  What I am not clear on is whether at this point the Wisconsin group is done or are any of them continuing on to Minneapolis?  If not I can take it from our meeting point and make the handoff to Vance in the city.  My constraint is sometime on Thursday 4th I am heading north to the lake cabin but the departure time could be flexible.  Several others are involved, some friends I have not seen for a year,  so no way can I bail on the long weekend at the lake.  Will be back on Monday 8th evening.

Anyplace in the Lake Pepin area would work too.

Hey guys,

Sorry, I haven't followed this thread for awhile! I'm hoping to do part of the Manitoba ride, that being said, between anniversaries, weddings, etc. I'm tied up for a number of the weekends in August.

Any other Manitoba riders on board here yet..?

Sorry, but the timing will not work out for me either. We currently have guests through August 6th, then leave for Sturgis on the 7th. I won't be available until after the 15th.

I'll keep checking back here every day though, so I'll try to help out if I can.

I have the weekend of the 13-14th free if the Iowa connection cannot be made on the 6th-7th.  We could do a long ride south together.  Zilla would have to chill in Minneapolis for a bit.  Just puttin some options out there.

Hi,
I'm new here and I don't know much of what's happening other than there is a lizard that needs to get across the north.
I live on the border of Iowa/Minnesota, technically in Austin, MN.
Could I help with the lizard?
Thank you.

hey guys, got a message from Vance about the ride heading our way around Aug 6th. if we're short on Iowa riders I'd be willing to ride into Iowa (hopefully with some other SOHC4ers) and bring the Zilla into NE and up to SD. I know its not easy but i need some specific dates for the ride through Iowa and Nebraska. If we could schedule the 6th and 7th (or maybe 8th) i could do it but i will need to rearrange my work schedule asap. if we can get these dates set then i will try and get riders, routes, and stops confirmed.

It seems that the weekend of the 13th/14th will work better for Iowa riders and some Nebraska riders too, actually for me also. Could we delay the handoff a week or is that a no no  :-\ ?

Scrambler, is this an option for us to hold G. for a week and move him down to IA/NE on the 12th or 13th? Would that throw off scheduling for the next team? I'm guessing team PNW is up next?

That might make it so moham could be available and have at least one Iowan team member to represent IA.

I'm gonna google "monster containment systems Minnesota" and see if we can safely store that beast. Maybe someone's got an oversize fire-retardant bunker around here.

If we gotta move him on the 6th or the 7th though I can get 'er done. I'm probably good for about a 200 mile day, so that would get me to around Fort Dodge if it's just me. Sounds like westondc is rounding up the troops and can possibly make it that weekend as well.

Hey there Nate! You could definitely help. We could coordinate meeting with you in southern Minn. and riding together into Iowa or just handing off to you. How far are you willing to go?

Make sure you're on the master rider list. PM Jerry Rxman Griffin and Old Scrambler and let them know you're on team Northern

NOW we are getting it done!  I have a message from axehole in Manitoba............he is trying but needs to sort his carbs...........just keep the messages coming and try to post to this page so all can see what's going on.................for handoff connections you may want to use a PM to communicate a cell phone number. That way if a rider has a problem on the road the next rider will know to expect a delay.

Have fun out there............remember, this is not a race.  Take pictures and display the banner. All sohc/4 riders should sign the log book.

I am riding north on Friday AM to CYCLE-X and plan to meet the Michigan riders Saturday AM near the State Line.  No word yet on exactly where and when.  I'll have more than 600 miles in when we handoff to zanvooden at the Fuel Cafe in Milwaukee on the 1st.
