Nate here:
Idea for Wisconsin riders into Minnesota. Old HWY 16 (runs from Chicago to Seattle) is a great ride. Especially in the bluffs. I'm in Austin, MN (55912). Thinking of meeting at Trimble's Cycle Center. No joke, this is the third oldest Honda motorcycle dealership in the country.
I'm ready to meet Wes at Storm Lake, Iowa on August 5th, Friday. Looks like it will have to be a time after 3. Hopefully not much later than 5 as I need to ride back home for work Saturday morning.
Nate

My personal thought is that one of the best rides in Wisconsin is hwy 33 through Wildcat Mt.
Here is my abosolute favorite ride if I have most of a day to just ride.

But we have to meet people along the way. So I'm planning to just go carve the corners on my way home.

i concur. 33 is wicked fresh and a bag o chips. im getting antsy

I had recently posted that I could meet you in the Stockholm area on Tuesday.  Hopefully not to late.  I would like to be headed back by 7pm.  I looked like Accolay had free time so I was hoping we would ride together.  It looks like that route 33 would shave off some time from the Prairie Du Chien route.  If it's going to Austin to save time and bypass the Twin Cities then I'm out.

srust58: Sounds good to me, but now there's talk of a meet up in Austin, MN.  The route up 35 from La Crosse to Stockholm WI is more scenic.  You Twin Cities guys powwow and decide.  But 33 from Wildcat Mtn SP to La Crosse sure sounds like a winner.

Guys, the plan is still for G. to come up to the twin cities on Aug 2nd.

The discussion about going to Austin is only in regards to the Twin Cities to Iowa leg and meeting up with Nate because he is south in Austin along the way, not to bypass Twin Cities.

We're still working out the details but it looks like leaving Twin Cities early on Sunday the 7th, meeting up with Nate in southern MN, and then continuing on to meet NE riders at Lake Okoboji IA is a possible scenario.

vance, thanks for clearing that up for us.  If they so desire, the Madison bunch can take the scenic Highway 33 route and I'll meet them at Wildcat Mountain, but the route will still go north Tuesday August 2nd on the River Road (35) from La Crosse, staying on the Wisconsin side, to Stockholm WI or thereabouts, where I will meet the Twin Cities riders and we'll snap a few pix for the blog and forum log.

The possible Austin MN stop may occur AFTER the Lizard leaves the Twin Cities.  srust58, you should be good to go on Tuesday.

Yeah I can do Tuesday.  If it gets too late and so you don't have to Hotel it I could also meet you on Wednesday, maybe for lunch in Stockholm.  We can leave that option open until you have an idea of what time on Tuesday and then we have a fallback if delays happen or it gets late.

Accolay, are you in for this?

But we have to meet people along the way. So I'm planning to just go carve the corners on my way home.
ZanVooden: Would you like to meet at Wildcat Mountain?  You're absolutely right about Hwy 33, and I'd love to take that route.  Then 33 to LaX, north on 35 to Two Brothers and the Giant Sunfish, and you can ride with me beyond that as long as you care to.
Still not clear where we'll meet the Minnesota boys.  I can stay out overnight if I have to and return home the 3rd, but it would be better if I could make it home late on the 2nd (home is outside of LaX).
The Honda dealer in Austin MN would be a good place to hand off.  I'm completely flexible about a route, but we oughta firm it up soon, so we don't end up waiting on each other 100 miles apart.  My cell is 608-397-2417.

Yeah that would be awesome if you would me there! Lets plan on that. Would around noon on Tuesday sound good to you?

Looks like we're confirmed to move Godzilla from the Twin Cities to Lake Okoboji IA and handoff to westondc and his fellow Nebraska riders on Sunday Aug. 7th. Riders should be myself, Accolay, Cbrrudy, and possibly Motoguy23, meeting up with Nate in MN 750K along the way.

Are there any other interested twin cities riders that I need to include on this list? Please let me know if I'm forgetting someone.

Any idea of a rough estimate of what time we can meet in Stockholm.  There is a pub/restaurant called Gelly's in Stockholm.

GZ (Cheezee while in Wisconsin) has been passed to Skamegedon in Milwaukee where he will stay for the night and see some local sights.........

He had an event-filled ride from Iron Mountain Michigan to Green Bay including 65 mph winds and rain........then a stomp at Lambeau Field and a nice eveing ride to Sheboygan County while our clothes dried in the breeze.  Johnie tried to join us but was turned back by the storm.

Today we (MJ, Seanbarny42, Bankerdan, Cheezee and me) stopped for pics at Road America (it was closed) and then were off to the beaches along Lake Michigan. Cheezee discovered a new beer he liked (Tyvenera?) and the bar-mistress was interested in the ride because she is also a biker.

I will post pics after my camera charges..........tip: No clouds in the sky and a sunny 2-day forcast..........don't believe it..........pack some rain gear and a baggie for the camera.

Question for Jerry and all...........The back of the banner is full of signitures...........should someone attach another piece of vinyl?......or something else for the rest of the signitures.

I checked their hours and they close at 4pm on Tuesdays.  Geez, it's a pub IN WISCONSIN and they close at 4. :o  The two other restaurants close at 4-5pm too.  Talk about rolling up the sidewalks.  If we want good food, or any food at all maybe somewhere else.  There is the Garden Pub and Grille in Pepin.

Good Post by Westondc................Its actually quite a moment of pride to write in the log book and carry the lizard from handoff to handoff.............several other branded riders I met along the ride would ask about these old bikes and were impressed about being able to link so many riders on old iron.  I was pleasantly surprised by BMW and HD riders who asked for the web-site info to learn more about the relay.

I've been telling people about the forum alot lately, from my friends (both riders and not) to the random people that walk up to me to ask about my old Honda. A few friends told me they got on SOHC4.com to see the relay ride reports and were amazed at how many people were involved and all the miles traveled so far. I cant wait to be a part of the relay next weekend for the handoff at Okoboji and it will be great to meet some of the SOHC4 community. this relay was an excellent idea to spread the word about the forum, meet the members and have some fun on these old Honda fours. well i think it's going to be a long work week.... see some of you this weekend!
