I like Hwy 12.......or at least I did in '74!  Regarding the timing, just let me know the last few days you will be available. I have a few days and weeks booked for other things to do!

I really wanted to take a good long ride last year but didn't have/ran out of time. I'm looking forward to hearing about dates.

Hullo,
the Canary is currently getting a solo seat and rearsets fabbed up; should be done in time but if no I have spare 550s kicking around, heh heh. Sounds like IT will be approaching my area from the East,I'd have no problem heading east to meet up and then either back to Stoon area or a straight west blast into Regina. Routing doesn't matter too much as far as curves are concerned, there aren't any here. I'm more concerned about avoiding all the gravel and broken pavement winter and the guvmint have blessed us with.
If it's worth doing at all it's worth over-doing.

I would also like to ride east as far as my time off will allow and hopefully south too :) and maybe west... well we'll see when the route is more set in stone

You guys have the right idea.........make the ride to suite your convenience.........We could still use a few more riders to fill in the spaces between the Twin Cities going westerly.........One or two strategic riders would help to decide if IT goes NW from the Cities to Canada or southwest to Iowa and Nebraska before IT travels north to Canada and then West to Regina before heading back to Montana...........We have time on our side.

I'm in Thunder Bay Ontario, about 30 miles north of the MN/ON border, and about 350 miles to the Manitoba border, if you guys do decide to come this way I'd love to be a part of it.

Have a wedding July 30th and another one July 31st.  Other than that my schedule is pretty flexible.

Lenny.

anyone ever been to riding mountain park in manitoba? Its out of the way to some extent unless you take hwy 16 from portage la praire and its way outta the way for some of the manitoba riders but would  be beautiful detour from the 4hr drive through the rolling flatlands., just a thought

Riding Mountain is really nice...might be an okay spot for the MB/SK handover!

I like the map idea...........I'm just not ready to post the potential route because I think we will get more riders. I am waiting for riders to be ID'd in the Omaha, Nebraska, area as well as hoping to get more riders to get north and/or west from the Twin Cities.  Late July to connect from Michigan and mid-August to hand-off to Montana or Wyoming is still the plan.

I like what I see on the map so far, I've heard someone wants to run IT into Kamloops but a rumor was all I heard, we've got a BC (GregK) guy willing to pick IT up in AB and run IT down into Idaho, but there's definitely a lack of Alberta riders or Saskie guys who want to make a long ride out of it..I'm planning on running by Bonner's Ferry ID, Eureka MT and the Coutts/ Sunburst area to run IT thru Montana, Wyoming and Idaho then back to Portland...and would be happy to meet anywhere along the ID/MT border anywhere west of Coutts....GregK has offered to grab IT from anyone willing to bring it to the west side of Alberta......

To any of you guys in the Saskatchewan area... any thoughts of running a support vehicle along the route TBA in case of breakdowns.  I have access to an open 4 bike trailer. Then we could travel the route as a team effort. You could throw your travel gear, tools etc in the vehicle... Just a thought...

I like your thinking guys.............so far the route looks like leaving Wisconsin at LaCrosse and going to the Twin Cities........then its iffy......do we go NW to Canada or SW to Omaha?  We have riders north and south along the Mo Valley and the Red River.  Yes, that would cover all of the states and provinces but would miss the Black Hills and Mount Rushmore (and Sturgis!).  We have time and possibly more riders to come on board.......so ............Who do you know that rides a SOHC/4?

I am still up for taking it west or northwest from Minneapolis if the timing fits.  I will be sailing on Lake Superior from July 22- Aug 8 and it looks like the last week of June we will be hosting friends from OZ.

The carbs will be OK, it's my fingers that'll freeze. :o   I also worry about frozen boots; too cold to remove them.

Got 4 heaters going in the garage, making some progress, engines back together, carbs are good although I have a set of 750 carbs I want to try and use. Now rebuilding forks.

When I ride West from Winnipeg I've found this little route I always take to be very enjoyable and it keeps me off the busy and bland Hwy #1 West from Winnipeg to Portage la Prairie.
