Has the ND route been planned yet? As this sounds like it is coming through in july-ish time, I might be able to make the ride. I guess it depends on if our flood tries to wash us away.

Where in ND are you Skunk Stripe? I may be the Manitoban to go down and pick IT up to start that leg...

I'm watching the flood waters up here too...River is going up QUICK!

Going up super quick, it is crazy. It was nothing and then in a day, water everywhere!
Anyways, I am just outside of fargo but I dont mind if I have to ride somewhere to join up. I would prefer not riding in the east 1/3rd of the state as it is all flat and straight and nothing of interest! But if it goes there, so be it.

I am signed up to ride the rally. I am also a member of the VJMC group in Minneapolis and promoting this with a few other members. What do you need from us planning wise? Is there a list of riders from this area to help us get organized? I know the date of arrival to Minneapolis will forever be changing, but is there an estimate yet?

Hey Rudy,

No firm dates in your neck of the woods yet.  Here is a thread with a PDF file attached to the first post that has the best dates so far.  I'm doing my best to keep it up to date.

Welcome aboard!
Can I have a motorcycle when I get old enough?
If you take care of it.
What do you have to do?
Lot’s of things. You’ve been watching me.
Will you show me all of them?
Sure.
Is it hard?
Not if you have the right attitudes. It’s having the right attitudes that’s hard.

OK VanZooden..........I'll be at the VJMC Booth..........near the swap meet.  Also will be leading the ride on Saturday.  Look for my Green K3. Just talked to Will Stoner (the promoter) and more swap spaces are already sold than last year.  90% chance of a static bike show on Saturday-Sunday with a building shelter for fowl weather.

Rudy, Skunk Stripe (welcome) and Old School............The route looks to be south and southwest from the Cities to pick up the riders near DesMoine, Omaha and then north through Sioux Falls and Fargo.  I'll post of list of riders and places this weekend for you to talk to each other and plan your own route. It sure would be great to get to the Black Hills.

I'm watching the dates and the weather.............It can only improve!

I have held back on getting too involved as it looks like my other vacation plans will coincide with the ride through Minnesota.  I just can't guarantee I will be there on the required date.  I will probably be back in Minneapolis on or around August 8th.  The big problem is I will be completely out of touch during the preceding two weeks so will have no way of following the progress.  If the timing does pan out I will join in for part of the ride but at this point it's just a matter of if, when, and where. It may be at the last minute.

SRust58.............We appreciate the interest.............and I am sure you will be welcome to join in if the schedules come together for you. Just keep watching as best you can.  I think the dates will be quite firm when we get word that IT is moving west from New Brunswick.

Congrats on the job! ..doin what?         I'm getting to the point on my job now, where I'd rather be somewhere else doing a more interesting job, in a nicer environment, but mostly making more money, I'm thinking late summer might be the time to jump. Take a road trip between jobs..bask in the awesome mightyness that is GODZILLA.....

I started a Canadian Linen route which pays great, union, benefits and bonus's and allows me to be home every night(to work on my bikes :D ) but is very hard to get time off... I believe there are routes under a different company name in the US starting wage was 18/hr here in canada

Sweet! My brother in law was a fleet mechanic for a linen service in Sacramento for a long time...they kept him plenty busy. but yeah..he made good money, they bought a gas station and ran that for years, now he runs his own towing service and does welding/fabbing also.  Best wishes!!!

The ride progression is tracked at http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=86686.0;attach=146524

Thanks to Old School for all of the work!

Note.........unless some delays creep into the schedule...........my guess is the ride will progress into Michigan about July 5-10 and onto Wisconsin/Minnesota by July 15-20.  So watch the link above to keep up with progress. IT will be moving from Alabama to California very quickly.......and back to Chicago in mid-May!

Thanks for the approximate timing update Dennis. I was hoping it would not be here during AMA Vintage Days July 22-24th which I plan to attend this year for the first time. Although the week of July 18th I have to be in MI for work. Oh, oh....

You guys on the final crossing may have more time to play as long as Team Pacific Northwest can accomplish their mission when needed  ;) And I could be in Sturgis for a few days first half of the week too but not on a Honda.

Johnie...........check your calendar.........AMA Super bike is the first weekend in June followed by the Vintage Motorcycle Classic on June 10-12 with AHRMA racing (on and off road)  Motorcycle Classics Magazine has expanded their show to include static bikes.  The ride & show will start on Saturday at Noon.  RA bosses tell us they will provide a building for the show so bikes can be parked from Friday PM through Sunday . I'll start a separate RA page on the events page.

Dennis...I am talking about the Ohio event I plan to attend: "Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course hosts another organization that honors the past as well as any as the American Motorcyclist Association makes its annual trip to Lexington on July 22-24. The AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days will be the site of North America’s largest motorcycle swap meet and dozens of road and off-road class racing."

The VMD swap meet is still the largest in the US.......maybe the world.  The AMA vintage racing has dismal particiapation and the overall crowd is in decline since the AMA split with AHRMA in 2009.  They have also dropped the auction and the AMA Museum bike show participation is much lower (easier to win).

So Jerry says we may have time to spend with IT ...............are you up for a ride to OHIO?
