Hi Everyone,

I'm in Iowa, actually Cedar Rapids, East Central part of the state.  I'm interested in taking part, but I may not be much help.  Between my Guard weekend and work and other obligations, I may not be too solid to commit til it gets close.  But, if its possible, I'll do my best to join for awhile.  I'm willing to ride a ways, but probably wont do too much over night stuff unless it works out like on a weekend I can get free.

I love my CB-350F and with new tires, it may actually go wherever the tour takes us.  I'll stay tuned.

Im planning on riding from the CR area (or wherever the handoff is) across the state to the Omaha area (I think thats about where the next is) on my CB550.....and Im really not planning on it being an overnight deal....its like a 5 or 6 hour shot....so it should be "1 day-able".

Hopefully it works out and we can all ride together.....not real sure if there are any others here.....sometimes these threads are kinda hard to follow.

Cool, thanks. So do we know which hwy in Nebraska the relay group will be traveling? From the looks of the map on the MC Classics blog it could be hwy 275, 77 or 75. I have traveled all three so if recommendations are needed or travel routes need to be made I would be happy to help. I could also help lineup a place for riders to meet up in NE and a free place to stay for the night.

Wes...........you are to be congradulated...........offering overnights is much appreciated.  The plan is to get IT from the Twin Cities down to Iowa (someplace) and then west to Omaha........and north to Canada.  The route and stop-overs are up to the riders. This thread is the best place to corrodinate with fellow riders for exact routes, timing, and hand-offs.

I'll check to see if there are any good events going on around N.E. Nebraska in July. I know that the first annual VJMC Metric Fest was last year near Omaha at the end of July, I was there. I could try to coordinate with the VJMC Omaha chapter and see if they will be having it again this year and maybe the SOHC4 relay riders could meet there and setup a display.

I'm going to start looking into the best route through Nebraska. There's no interstate here that heads North to South Dakota (I'm assuming SOHC4 riders what to avoid traveling the interstate?) so it will be highway travel. Could some South Dakota riders give us some advice on a good route to travel through their state and I will look into the best route to connect to it?

p.s. I work at the Nebraska State Capitol Building so if riders are interested in checking it out and getting a behind the scenes tour that would be a possibility

Attention Riders!  Watch the ride progress as best you can...........On Easter Sunday ITs in Arizona and is scheduled to come back through Chicago and on to Pennsylvania before Memorial Day. If there are no snow storms and all riders keep IT moving..........we may be getting IT a lot sooner than expected.  Not that we are in a hurry to pass it on........our group has the largest number of states and provinces to cover.

Also note to keep track of your mileage - from home and return.  Jerry has started a log for the 500 mile and 1,000 mile riders.

I own a 1978 cb750f Super Sport and would love to take part in this awesome event.  The route between Madtown and La Crosse is beautiful.  Also, the Quaker Steak and Lube on Wednesday nights would be a good spot to stop if possible.

I'm have just acquired a 75CB550f and have been bootting around town on it.  In my search for knowledge about this bike I have found this amazing website.  I apologise for not fully reading the thread before replying but I'm from martensville Saskatchewan Canada and would love to be apart of this ride. I'm not sure of any biking events in SK at the moment but it is beautiful here in the summer time.

FYI mttlit.  Originally from SK, but in Calgary now.  There are others, but I'm definitely planning on being part of the group that takes the hand-off of Godzilla from SK to AB.  Nothing firm yet to my knowledge, but I'm up for anything from Medicine Hat to Lloydminster, or anything between.

HANDOFF from MICHIGAN PLAN.................July 15-16 looks good at Hazelhurst.    Just talked with Ken at Cycle-X.................He will provide a large tent for a group camp and grill a meal for everyone!  Arrival time should be confirmed a few days in advance......maybe when the Michigan riders leave Kalamzoo.  Ken will also provide shop space for anyone to do self-maintenance on the bikes.  There is a tavern next door.

I will plan to meet the Michigan riders along the road at the UP-Wisconsin border and get them to Hazelhurst.......weather permitting.  Any other Wisconsin riders want to join in the ride?  My cell is 920-698-0525..............I only use it on the road.  Home land-line is 920-528-7402.

From Cycle-X we will proceed on back roads to Green Bay (I like to put in a few miles before breakfast) and down to my place for the next night (near Road America)...........Hot Showers anyone?  Please contact me to arrange a handoff to catch the Milwaukee, Madison, and beyond destinations.

If the schedule holds..............we should be in Milwaukee for Two Wheel Tuesday events and on to Madison on Wednesday. LaCrosse looks like an arrival date of July 22nd..............

Soooooooooooooooo.............lets mark our calendars and plan the routes and handoffs to get GeeZee and the banner on to Canada and into Montana.

JULY 16 at CYCLE-X in Hazelhurst is on the schedule but not definate...........possible delays in NE for lack of weekday riders.......Oldschool from Michigan is advising we may delay the handoff to the 23rd in which case someone other than me will have to handle the handoff........I will be out of state a few days...........

No panic but just letting you know that its still 50 days out................We should have firm plans around the middle of June.  I'll ask Oldschool to post the July 16 date as a target for the NE and Eastern Canadian riders to see.

Theres a handfull of riders, including myself, in Nebraska that will be along for the ride here. We've got some routes in mind but we need some input from South Dakota riders for were the handoff will be at the state line. I think there was some talk about going to Sturgis and the Black Hills... is this a possibility? The vintage bike shop (Great Plains Cycle) in Lincoln NE is on-board for welcoming the SOHC4 crew with possibly a BBQ and ride. I can lineup a place for riders to stay also. Once we get some estimated Nebraska relay dates I can get the event setup with the shop.

Thanks Westondc for the info.......and added ride bennies in Nebraska.  We have riders going north to Canada and then need to get back into the US in western Dakotas or Montana............that should be planned by the Saskatchewan riders and the NW rider group.

It seems a lot of NY-area riders are sleeping with GZ for the next 10 days or so..........then he will be on the move again. The dates for us to watch are when the Canadian riders move GZ west towards Toronto..........from there I expect the ride to progress through Michigan and into Wisconsin in a week or less.  Hopefully this will be on July 15 or 16 for the handoff at CYCLE-X...........

Heads Up...............The dates are moving back...........more likely that the Michigan to Wisconsin handoff will be July 29 or 30.  You can all watch the progress.  So we need to get the handoff schedule together for Wisconsin to Minnesota.....then to Iowa........Nebraska........South and North Dakota...........then into Canada.

I plan to be in Hazelhurst and meet the Michigan riders..........then on to my place for another overnight...........then on to Milwaukee and beyond..........who is going with me or ready to take the package from Milwaukee to Madison?  Most likely on Tuesday or Wednesday........then on to LaCrosse by Friday and into the Cities on Saturday??
