New Guy needing help
« on: January 10, 2011, 11:08:38 AM »
I have a 77 supersport 750 I think they call it a cb750f?  If someone could explain difference for f and k that be great or give me a link.  and yes ive tried the search. Im sure someone will tell me "use search bar"

Im used to Harleys I have a 65 panhead im building now.  So all the jap stuff is pretty new for me so bear with me.

I want to rebuild/clean the carbs.  even though the carbs look pretty clean inside. The bike is running on only 3 cylinders and Ive narrowed it down to what i think is the carbs.  Ive got good spark and compression.  Is the a good write up step by step how to disassemble clean and reassemble then sync them?  I hate to pay someone to do it when i could do it myself.

welcome to the madness  ;D
Roach beat me to it...
a bunch of good info on differences 750K vs F here:
http://www.sohc4.net/index.php/cb750

and carb info here in the FAQ pages:
http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php?board=11.0

yes, you should to do them yourself, and you'll do a pretty fine job at it too.
one carb at a time.  dont mix and match parts between bowls.
use only OEM HONDA parts if you need to replace anything.
most brass jets can and should be reused. might want to replace o-rings tho.
clean, clean, and more clean, set float heights, and recheck them...

post pics of your bike! :)

Wow...that's really clean.  Nice looking F.

For the carbs, you can do it.  It's an easy job - just tedious.  Just take everything apart and keep them separate.   The Japanese are really clever - if you look at them long enough, they only go back together 1 way.   You probably won't have to buy new jets as they seem to last forever.  You might just need some new gaskets.
Yep, I'm the kid that figured out how to put things back together...eventually.
