Hey Guys and Gals!

It's getting to be time now to get the rider list together.  I have created a new topic in our forum to capture who is riding.  Here is a link to the topic, please take a look then come back here for how I'd like to flesh this out.

http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php?topic=87621.0

As you can see, I have listed each day of the ride along with the city/location from where the day will begin.  I then added "meet ups" for breakfast, lunch, dinner and the overnight.  It's rather generic at the moment.  If we need to add more meet ups for a particular day, no problem!  I just want to make sure everyone joining the relay has a meet up location and time.  I took a stab at adding names for the first few days as an example of what I'm looking for.  No claim that the example is accurate!

What I need from you:
Please PM me with
- where you plan to join the relay (either an existing meet up point or suggest a new one)
- any overnights you plan to stay at
- where you plan to leave the relay (doesn't have to be at a meet up)

I also need volunteers to be the central point of contact for each day.  A rider who will be riding all (or most) of the day, who knows the route, the time and location of each meet up and who is joining/leaving the relay at the meet ups.  Since you will be the point of contact for all riders for that day, sharing your phone number and/or texting device with the riders will be needed.  If any riders have to bow out, change their meet up point or time or are having mechanical trouble, they are to call/text the Road Captain.  As events occur during the ride, it will be the Road Captain who calls the shots after getting input from all concerned.  Kind of a Democracy with one person having 51% of the votes!   ;)  Let me know if you would like to volunteer.  Co-Captains can be done too and prolly a good idea!

Lets get 'er done!

I would assume it will be me for Fredericton to Quebec City, although if I could get a volunteer from QC to meet in Edmunston for the hand off that would be better. Not sure how long I can be away from work/family responsibilities.
Job change means a cell# change so I won't post it until closer to the day.

Thanks Jason!

I know there are at least two QC riders, so maybe one or both will ride up to meet you.  Might even get a New England rider to tag along and take GZ to QC.  I seem to recall that your wife might be joining you for your ride.  Is that still the plan?

There is a good deal of fuzzyness still with the Maritimes.  If the route doesn't go to NS, are you still able to meet Team New England for the handoff?  Realize that Day 1 and Day 2 don't have to be consecutive days if you need a day or two between rides.

Got your PM Bruce.  Added a meetup for South Lake Simcoe  and added the riders you mentioned.  Thanks for the info!!

To all Eastern Canada riders:  please send me a PM letting me know approximately where you plan to join up with the relay, where you plan to exit and any overnights you plan to make.  I'd rather hear it from you now rather than try to construct the list from the thread.  Time has moved on and I wold imagine so have your plans.

Thanks!!

No matter what direction it heads whether into Nova Scotia or up to Quebec, I would love to do the hand off portion!!!

Good Deal Justin!  I'll let Team New England know that you are the handoff rider for Eastern Canada and will have their handoff rider contact you for logistics.

Works for me, the only issue may be the border crossing as I do not possess a passport. However the border crossing close to me is a very small one, I am sure if we explain to the customs guys what we are doing they will likely be pretty cool about it. It's Canada for god's sake!!!!  As long as Godzilla will consent to a search, we should be all right!  :)

I opened the Rider List topic so y'all can make replies in it.  We're fairly well covered from the New England handoff through to the QC/ON border.  Still don't know if the G-man will be visiting the Maritimes.

Needing some Ontario riders to meet Team Quebec at the border for the handoff.  Also need any riders not already listed in the Rider List to let me know where they plan to join the ride and where they plan to leave it.  Anyone continuing on into Michigan?

Dates on calendar are closer than they appear!!

Hey Team New England!

Justin (Operator) is the handoff rider for Eastern Canada.  He is located in Fredricton, New Brunswick.  Can you have your handoff rider connect with Jason to arrange handoff details?

Also, are there any New England riders who plan to ride into Canada?

Thanks!

Dont worry I will take care of it. I have a good throw ;)...and failing that Ill make the trip to the border...was in New Brunswick last year on the K4 so a repeat venture is not a problem.

I did a similar route last year - the Mainie part via Sebago lake is wonderful riding - sweeping empty country roads....here is the proposed route for this year...2-day or 3-day round trip from Boston.....let me know if you can make it to this border crossing...

Hey Jason,

It look like Andy knows of a convenient hole in the fence!  Keep in touch with him for handoff details.  I assume you will ride directly between the handoff and home or do you plan to take "the long way"?  I'm not sure yet if you will have any company on the road.  Maybe Haill??

Probably the Canadians with attitude that they will be reacting to. Our Godzilla was probably made in China anyway.

The weekend of July 4th is looking probable for the handoff from Team New England.  Not official yet, so don't make any unchangeable plans.  Just a heads up!

Is the Rallye ahead of schedule?  Handoff to Team Eastern Canada in NB was supposed to occur at the beginning of july...

Updated dates would help a lot. I have to get approval for the days off from work...not an issue but it'd be best if I had the approximate week sooner rather than later. And yes I think I can do Toronto - Detroit and back home, if timing isn't off.

Bike should be on the road this week. :)

The "schedule bubble" is with Team New England right now.  I did see a date for the NB handoff that was a little earlier than July.  I'll see if it's been updated and will post back later tonight.

All going well it will be June 25th.

This is dependent on it getting from Rhinebeck, NY to CT/RI on June 12th then a week later making its way up through Boston, NH, VT then a week later from Maine to Canada. Since we only have a few riders at the moment I may end up riding all these dates.

Getting there...will keep you posted.
cheers

Handoff date has slipped a week.  Now think about the New Brunswick handoff as being July 2nd.
