Topic: CB500/4 cam removal

Going to pick up one of those butane torches in the morning, think it would do anything if I heated up the case before I cut the chain and pull the head off to get it to move or will I have to put the flame directly around the piston for it to do any good? Anyone know of any good shops or shade tree mechanics near Denton or the DFW area that could do the bore work?

Definitely try some heat.  Don't hold the heat in one place for long though.  Sweep the flame back and forth on each side until that metal will sizzle water.

Tomorrow....adding some heat to the equation and trying to get it to move or im cutting the chain, will keep everyone posted.

Not sure what your goal is for the bike but maybe looking at another good used low mile motor? Maybe from a 550 instead because of the 500's weak tranny. I've seem them sell used on ebay for <$500 in good running order. If you're cafe-ing it that's the route I would go. Your current engine is going to cost you. And your tranns may cost you even more if not now then later. Just a thought.
