Possible rim source..
« on: January 06, 2011, 07:55:51 PM »
saw some nice rims on a Guzzi standard the other day.. Forgot to count the spokes.
Not sure if they are reasonable or out of sight, price wise.
They were 3.50 x 17, and 2.5 x 18 I believe, and were flat formed, not rolled edge, ie like old car rims or HD 16 inch rims.

Thought I would mention it just in case they are reasonably priced..

It's been a couple days and my search didn't turn up much for OEM replacement spoked wheels for Guzzi's on the web, maybe someone else will find them.

On a side note I did find that BilletBoys is the US distributor for Akront and they have dealers all over...you likely know more about those wheels than many of us 754.  http://store.billetboys.com/merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=BB&Category_Code=W-2 And they have an ebay store with some closeout wheels listed too, if those are their closeout prices I can imagine how high their retail on new Akront wheels would be.  :-\

Would these rims be appropriate for a cb750? -

They also have a bunch of narrower, 1.6" - 1.85" rims for 20 bucks each.
So much to do, so little time.

The rims in the picture take 36 spokes, we want 40 spoke rims for starters. There are other issues that can make a 40 spoke rim incompatible with a honda hub, like the angle and position that the spoke holes in the rim are drilled at. Those rims are made for tiny dirtbike hubs and the spoke angle will not be correct for a larger honda front hub, and will be downright dangerous if laced up 'as-is' to a big rear drum hub.

Others know more, they'll be along soon.  The reason 754 mentioned the Guzzi wheels is that what he saw on the street looked appropriate in theory for our hondas.

I should have counted spokes on the GUZZI, its a buddies, i will try to phone him, next couple days.
I rarely venture on ebay, computer is too old and slow.
I mentioned them on the off chance they are affordable, the odd time OEM parts are.
When I build my own hubs, I will probably use 36 holes, way more rims available..
