1979 GS 425 No Spark
« on: February 13, 2011, 03:48:58 PM »
Im working on my roommates 1979 GS 425. We took a trip to Austin then he parked it. I now have no spark at the spark plugs. I tried grounding the spark plugs against the engine casing and no blue spark appeared. I did the timing adjustment as per the manual and they seem to be dead on (before leaving for austin he had them done).

The coils are after market and I have four wires running to them

2 orange/white
1 black
1white

The two orange/white are hot when the bike is turned on. Havent tested the other two. Whats the next step to solve this ignition nightmare?

Thanks guys!

Let me guess: the old plugs were black as night? ;)

Hey Mike, are you still interested in the relay??? Looks like it will be in DFW on 4-19. Anywhere from OKC to Austin that you might want to participate in??
