just to add my 2 pennies.... im running pirelli routes. hard as all hell, yet seem to grip well. 2500 miles and have hardly worn at all... a local triumph guy likes to call em pirelli sliders, guess they are a little too hard for the track. i dont ride in the rain, so i cant report on that. they look the part, sporty w/o looking like they belong on a modern bike. all in all id say they do the job...

I'd suggest the MT90-19 or 100/90x19 front and 110/90x18 rear in the Roadriders from Avon. Great grip after 500 miles of scuff-in, great cornering ability, ignores those raingroove wiggles in the road nicely!

I'm a little confused what size inner tubes I should use if I go with this size tire.  The inner tube sizes don't seem to correspond with the tire size, except for the diameter.

the shop will give you the correct tubes, its not a real critical thing,if you have way bigger tyres sure, the tubes will have to suit, the shop will help you.,dont be sold what the shop wants to sell you either.

If you're ordering from Motorcycle Superstore, they will advise you on which tube to get.
There are not as many tube sizes as tire sizes, one tube will fit an assortment of tires.
PS. Don't forget the rim strips!

just out of interest here,i had that rear spitfire fitted 14/5/08 at 24238 kays, nows its 1/1/11 and 37298 kays and just legal, thats 13,060 kays(about 8000 miles),ill get another one of those straight away, its been a good tyre,i ride accordingly and dont tempt fate,i hook in to it a fair bit aswell,i managed to do about 90 kays today before it rained again and thought how this tyre has lasted and looked in my note book, the centre looks better than the off centre section that has the wear guides, its just skimming a few of them off now.

Hey Dave - they are still available over here, not that it does you any good.

yeah thanks stevo,i got one demon fitted and balanced, and he tweaked the spokes, one take away with new tube and rust band for 310 here, still raining heavy so a test ride will have to wait,i like the look of it,umm, photo pending, ive bought tyres before from the same place, hes a straight up guy,(aussie slang 'ONE TO BE TRUSTED'or a good bloke),i dont mind fitting tyres myself to old chrome rims,i leave alloys to the machines.

rode the 500 today, not real hard yet, still damp roads and new tyres, feels like it turns easier, still new though,i mounted the take away tire to its rim,i like the pattern, the spitfire had less meat aswell, this is a 110/90x18 rear.
