exhaust tip?
« on: January 08, 2011, 05:21:08 PM »
I'm using a mac 4-1 exhaust on my 1972K1 cafe project. I really like the short muffler look rather than the long mac muffler. I have noticed that some people run what looks like some sort of exhaust tip instead if a muffler. How much louder would it be than running with the mac muffler? What should I use if I go this route? Just looking for some ideas. Thanks.

A couple members that I know of running short pipes like that use a handmade baffle and one runs with a chrome exhaust tip too. Have a look (and a listen) at these threads for inspiration:

I can't seem to post a pic right now but I made a few for the 750F header with a stainless truck tip and a glasspack internal muffler for a car side pipe. The inlet is 2 1/2" and the pipe is 3 1/2"x 18. I think it's the best sounding 750 I've ever owned. The stainless tips can be found in 2" inlet also which may fit many pipes.

I just purchased an exhaust can for my 76CB750F from a guy that makes them in the services offered section.  He has a video of what it sounds and looks like mounted over there as well.  Should get mine in a few days.

Thanks for the tips. It gives me some ideas on how to make one. I might try to make one or at least look for the parts to make one when I get some time between work and ice fishing. Thanks.
