Hey Col,

We'll have that beer! Know Frank for over 30 years, from when he worked at a shop called Bakker Motoren. He was one of the blokes I looked up to, since he was racing. Went over to Zandvoort a lot to see them battle it out. Great guy and a lovely wife he has. Just drop in from time to time in his shop, always good to talk to them.

I'm in the Redlands mate on Brissie's south side, we had some localised flooding from the rain but were lucky enough to miss out on the river flood. My sister in Toowoomba lost her brand new car, it ended up under 2 others about 2 kilometres from where she parked it.
She is ok though.....Thanks for asking.... ;)

Mick, was in Toowoomba, 2 years ago, we was at a big Truck company, i think they hold the world record of 1 tractor unit pulling 57 trailors.
Any way we havw some mates there, i think they are ok. Also close by i think there is a good bike museum and the guy has a lot of rare bikes

Mmmmmm when i mean close by, i think the museum was in Tamworth ( could it be Darling Downs) i think thats a long way from Toowoomba !!!

Sorry bud, didn't catch your posts. Everything is good where we are, high enough up not to get wet and we only had a couple of road closures here. Problem is that we are now approaching  cyclone season and they are saying we are in for a good one....We have had a massive amount of rain already so the ground has reached its saturation point, there's just no where for the water to go now.....

A quick update.
Col is doing well and is placed  4th out write at the end of play on Saturday.
Frank is coming to terms with one of the fastest GP tracks in the world very quickly.
But Paul and I are having a shocker.
It started on Fridays Qualifying.
We came howling around Dooan corner at the end of Gardner Straight and came face to beak with a pair of Cape Barren Geese.
These things stand about three feet high and we just couldn't get our sh!t together for the rest of qualifying.
We chewed up a clutch in the first race on Saturday and the thing keeps jumping out of top gear.
Not to worry, as Scarlet O'Hara once said, "tomorrow is another day".

A quick update Scunn.
Aussies lead Poms by the smallest of margins, followed by the Kiwis.
I can almost taste those beers already. ;D
Crosby is at the Island signing his new book but he's not riding.

Hey Bear,

Just reading Croz's book, lying in bed with the flu, what a great entertainer both on and off the bike! Think it is good for the rest that he does not ride, wonder if they are ready for him! Saw Croz first time in '78 on Brands Hatch fighting with Aldana and Cooley. Think he only used up his rears, the fronts never touch the ground long enough!



Great to hear too Frank is doing allright, always loved his skills and style.

That pic with the number 35 is just too cool: holed leathers from dragging knees, a nice sweater mom knitted back home with good kiwi wool, taped boots (must have holed them too), hand painted lettering on the bike. love it.

When I saw Croz at Brands it was a time when wheelies were not done that frequently. He came out of every corner drifting and wheelying that big kawa. This was a real quick one, Croz managed to put it on pole during the Suzuka 8hour and won. The bike is now restored by Gordon Pantall and was up for sale.

Col and Dave finished the meeting sharing 3rd place overall, a bloody good effort in a very competitive field.
Unfortunately Frank had mechanical woes and finished 11Th.
A broken cam he thinks.

We tore up 2 clutch carriers over the weekend, I suspect this was caused by the "clutch locker" that we recently fitted.
The main cause of aggravation came from the gearbox.
I was unable to change down from 4Th to 3rd and it was constantly jumping out of top gear.
I'm pretty shore a worn selector arm will be the culprit.
The joys of racing. ;D
The end result was a good honest 9Th.

Got to meet and chat with Col and Frank briefly. (Said g'day to Frank for you Rob)
I was disappointed not to have had more time to chat because of our mechanical issues.
Frank had some insights into a possible long term solution with my gear shift problem but the noise in pit lane made it impossible to hold a decent conversation at the time.
I ducked down to their pit a couple of times but they weren't about.
Left a note on Col's bike with my mob number but I suspect their itinerary did not allowe them enough time to catch up.
