I bought a new vent hose - to connect to the outlet at back of the rocker box. I previously had it venting direct out the short metal outlet without problem. The part from David Silver (17335-323-000) seemed right but after a ride I noticed a significant amount of oil had deposited all over the RHS of the rear tyre and under all rear appendages. I spent this morning going over the bike - cleaning all the damned oil off, checked all the breathers were routed straight and were clear. Looked for signs of leakage and could see none. Pulled off the LHS sprocket cover and pulled back the final drive sprocket and checked that the big oil seal there was snug and oil free.
The only change from a clean bike to an oil splattered mess was the addition of the danged breather tube. So I blew up it - got air passage OK. Pulled it off the bike...blew through,..but got bugger all airflow. Found there is a foam filter wedged inside the fat end connected to the rocker box outlet. I'm wondering if this "filter" was ever a normal feature and if it should be. Once the rain abates and the gout in my right knee does likewise - I'll do another 50Km with the tube off again. It might be creating top-end pressure build-up?
Anyone know about this foam insert? Pic attached shows tube with foam removed from end.

Mark
Update: Next SOHC-day. Took out the sponge insert and did another road test = no oil deposited this time. Perfectly clean bike still. Most excellent. So - I'm fine. But what the heck is with this sponge piece - this is a genuine Honda part, so I assume this filter is supposed to work - maybe in conjunction with linking this vent tube direct back to the airbox? My airbox has no such connection and my hose hangs limp..no pun intended.
