We shall miss you, he truly was in a company of heroes. And I am not throwing that term around loosely here.

I saw that story earlier today and it made me reflect on the memories I have of my Grandpa.  There are fewer and fewer of these guys left.  They are true heroes.

May he and the other heroes of his time who have gone before him rest in peace.  God bless their sacrifices and may humanity never forget about the horrors they fought to eliminate so that the past does not repeat itself.

Last year I joined a support group for procrastinators.
We haven't met yet.

The man lived a long, respected life and was liked as well.
I don't have a motorcycle, sold it ('85 Yamaha Venture Royale).  Haven't had a CB750 for over 40 years.

I read the book once and watched the series at least 3 times. What I think Mr Winters meant when he said he was no hero, was that there were countless men and officers around him during those horrific experiences that did exactly what he did. His story has been recorded for posterity. The others' stories are lost in the sands of time never to be recounted again.
The sadness is that we, the survivors, the beneficiaries of the actions of men like Mr. Winters do not appreciate the value of these stories anymore.
What frightens me nowadays as I look at myself, the people I see everyday, my colleagues and the people in the news and other media is that I don't see Dick Winters in them anymore.
