K7 Cafe transformation and Fuel tank question
« on: March 16, 2013, 07:31:22 AM »
Well I am about to embark on my K7 cafe build and have been spending several weeks in the evenings reading many posts getting ideas. I've pretty well settle on the style of seat/cowl I like and what mechanical/electrical changes are needed.

One of the mods I'd like to do is close the fuel tank lid on my K7 tank and install a monza style gas cap. With this in mind, I am looking for some advice as to if it is just a matter of welding the existing lid to the tank and installing the gas cap.

Any advice and/or pointers would greatly be appreciated.

Thanks,
Snowman

It goes without saying but get the fuel out flush it with loads of water and give it time to vent.

Wow, that's about $20 less than Carpy's site and should cover the shipping costs. Thanks for the link

I'm all for saving a few bucks, but not sacrificing quality. I will stay with the cap from Rexmar, looks like a better product.

I believe the Rexmar is the same filler. I took mine to a welder to have him close the door. Then I took it to a radiator shop to have it sealed.

Thanks everyone for the tips where to buy the filler cap. Any tips on welding the filler lid and what about the overflow or vent hole under the lid?

Cheers
