float hieght can it be so high it floods a cylinder????
« on: March 24, 2006, 12:35:55 PM »
HI everyone i discovered my cb750k4 in a barn where IT SAT FOR 27 YEARS WITH A SIEZED MOTOR i have pretty much restored the thing got it running and now im trying to tune it. Anyways cylinder no 1 was not firing so after playing with it i discovered the floats were bent upward and allowing the float to fill just about up tp the drain tube before it stopped. my question is could that flood the cylinder with so much gas it would not fire properly please help I also need advise on how to tune this sucker

Yup, that's just what happens. Is the float assembly still salvageable? If so, straighten things out and set it and the others to the correct height. Hard to know from a distance, but if you sense a good deal of fuel has been sucked into that one cylinder, to play it safe you may want to do an oil change also.

Something  I'd like to throw in here is, If you have hollow floats (brass or plastic), check them
to see if gasoline is in them. If they leak and take on gas, they won't operate properly either. I
just thought that should be mentioned in case everything else is set and operating properly, you
could have this problem. Later on, Bill :) ;)
