Which front sprocket? '77 CB750K
« on: January 13, 2011, 10:05:19 AM »
Just thought about this.. the sprocket off my old (destroyed) '76 750F motor is a 17-tooth.. standard for the replacement '77 750K motor is 15-tooth. What would be the result of using the 17-tooth sprocket as opposed to the 15-tooth one? Or should I look for a new sprocket?
If it's worth doing, it's worth doing twice.

You will lose acceleration but what you will gain is a top end at lower revs.  Great if you spend a lot of time on highways, not very good if you drive the twisties most of the time.  While it has real no effect at all on power it will feel as if you have lost power to go up on the front sprocket's number of teeth.
