Thankfully, she was running solo, no kids with her.  It could have been so, so much worse: paralysis, dead.  No broken limbs, no cuts, bruises, nothing.  Except, of course, for a broken T-8.  We consider ourselves very lucky.  That said, a body cast (albeit removable) is no fun for the next 3-4 months.  Insurance companies truly suck (sorry anyone in the business), disability is a joke; all no fun whatsoever.  She's on the mend and except for losing 1/2" or so, should be A-OK when it's all over.

You know, I have gone through the same thing in the last few years.  My wife insists that she doesnt want me killing myself on a motorcycle.  Funny thing is, I dont want to either.  But after 15 years without, I could not stand it.  So, I bought a kick ass GL1100 for a song, put some work into it, and can ride it anywhere.  But, I dont.  Just putt around in the country.  I am a good rider, well trained, always wear a helmet (a very good helmet, full face), leathers, protective footwear, and heavy gloves.  Frankly, riding a motorcycle scares me as much as it thrills me.  A good healthy dose of fear will generally keep you from doing dumb things.  In my book, to enjoy them is to respect them.

That said, I have since gone out and bought a CB550F which brings me here, and it wasnt running at the time.  Hope to crank it up this weekend.

Gotta have fun somehow.  I like hanging out in the garage.  Hope your wife is better soon.

ted,i can almost tell you what broke on your dodge.let me know and ill tell you if you`re right.of course i would think it was ignition  related.oh,what year is it.
Actually it was a water pump. Mine is an old 1983 model.
damn,they never break!!
The original water pump broke (actually it was a seal but you have to replace the whole unit) after 130,000 miles of hauling heavy cargo, including many motorcycles so I really can't complain.

My same Dodge truck developed a gasket leak near the pump while I was traveling between Arizona and New Mexico in a middle of August 2002. Since I didn't have the spare cash then to be ripped off by overpriced highway garages, I just kept driving it, filling radiator with water every 60-70 miles until I got home. The only reason why I don't drive it that much now is because it gets 10 mpg. It wasn't too long ago (about 5 years) when gas cost 88 cents per gallon Regular at San Antonio.
It's weird when subject keeps drifting off.
